The Popularity of Christian Movies Is Inspiring Future Faith-Based Flicks

TAGS: , , ,

PI ladies, I know many of you enjoy Christian films and wish there were more of them. Well, you’ll be really excited about this news!

Denver pastor and author (of 27 books!) Sun Hui East is introducing Strong Foundation Films, a film production company devoted to faith-based movies. Her desire is to offer “visual sermons” for both Christians and non-Christians alike.

I’m not familiar with this pastor or her work, but I’m always excited when someone uses their talent to glorify God. Following is a sneak peek of the soon-to-be-released movie The Prophet’s Son.

Strong Foundation Films was founded for one purpose–to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the world through the media of film. Strong Foundation Films is a Christian film-maker devoted to making movies that glorify God and bring clear understanding of the Gospel to its audiences. This company was ‘birthed’ in prayer and is focused on following the Lord’s leading. Our movies are stories that all people can relate to…ones that show life’s struggles and pain, yet bring solutions, hope and encouragement (Strong Foundation Films Mission).

The intention of Strong Foundation Films is to make movies that inspire people to find and maintain true relationships with God. As you may know, faith-based movies are becoming increasingly popular. Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ was a sensational hit, even without the backing of Hollywood. We’ve also seen numerous successes with Courageous, Soul Surfer, and more recently, October Baby.

What does this mean? In my opinion, it means viewers are desperate for wholesome movies that tell inspirational stories.

These days, the majority of Hollywood shows and movies are drenched in promiscuity and unnecessary violence.

I believe we all need more faith-based movies because they instill goodness and offer positive ways to deal with adversity. Christian movies glorify God and direct us to follow Him. I honestly believe movies and television shows have such an influence on their viewers. And because the majority of movies today reflect bad behavior, society is slowly deteriorating and become desensitized to violence and sex.

I also believe people have had enough. Maybe they recognize Hollywood is dragging them down the wrong path, or maybe they’re just tired of all the violence and sex. And as a result, they’re yearning for what’s good and right, and flocking to these Christian movies. And I too welcome it with open arms. I look forward to the movies that will come from this and other production companies that strive to glorify God.

PI ladies, you asked for more Christian movies and your prayers have been answered. If we want more goodness to come from Hollywood, then we must demand it. We must turn away from the movies that do nothing but offer unnecessary bad behavior, and we must show support for the wholesome movies that guide us toward all that is good and glorifies God.

Strong Foundation Films is going to shake the film industry by telling stories that help people understand eternal principles found in the Bible (Pastor Sun Hui East).

I pray Strong Foundation Films never loses sight of its desire to glorify God in every movie it produces. May its movies bring viewers closer to Christ. And I pray also that more filmmakers stand up for Christ with their art. I ask this in Jesus’ name.

Ladies, are you always looking for more Christian movies to watch?

I’m all for movies including faith, but the trailer for “The Prophet’s Son” makes it look terrible! Bad acting, melodrama, a bad voice over, it’s like they didn’t even try!

I agreee I’m sick of these movies about nothing but these cliche and far fetched love stories or movies about violence and guns and sex. Nothing is new and people are getting bored with the same old same old. Soul Surfer is pretty much my favorite movie hands down.

I love watching Christian movies. A lot of the time they are way better than regular movies. My favorites are the Sherwood movies and Last Ounce of Courage.

wow.. what a coincidence!! My mom was actually asked to be an assistant director (that’s her profession) for Strong Foundation Films but she turned it down.

My favorite Christian movies are Fireproof, Courageous, The Grace Card, Soul Surfer, and To Save A Life

  8. Whenever a new film comes out that Christians rave about, I can usually rule it out on my to-do list. It’s all part of what I call the Diet Soda Lifestyle–when you take parts of “secular culture” and create a Christian alternative. They’re usually incredibly lame and poorly put together. No thanks. I’ll save my money and stick to my sex and violence, thank you very much. Art (including film) is meant to be enjoyed.

  9. One more thing, if you’re trying to promote Christian films, I wouldn’t recommend listing Passion of the Christ among the others. It was created by a psychotic anti-Semite, and I doubt you ladies would consider Mel Gibson to be a very Godly man or a good role model for young Christian males.

I think you mean the Last Suffering of Christ. This movie is so perverted from the real Christ’s suffering.

As long as we’re on this movies subject, what does anyone think about ‘The Possession’? The only reason i want to see it is because it has Matisyahu in if, who ia amazing, and he’s Jewish, so im thinking it might be realistic.

You know, all the movies Christians make about the future don’t turn out good at all.
I love Courageous, Soul Surfer, and October Baby!

The Passion of the Christ is pretty realistic, but it has some strange Catholic stuff in there. Plus, my dad said Christ’s suffering was even worse than that. :( ((((((

I love Christian movies. The problem is that most of them come off as too ‘preachy’ or ‘unrealistic’ or ‘predictable’. I really would like to find one that’s as engaging and suspenseful as a secular movie, which doesn’t dodge around less than wholesome topics, but which also comes with a lesson and shares the message of Jesus Christ

I love Christian movies. Something really cool that I have found out is that there are people in my area who actually make movies, and there have been some really good ones. One of my favorites recently was “Rouge Saints.” This movie actually had a few people from my church in it, including my small group leader.
