The Top 10 Most Inappropriate Halloween Costumes We See for Young Girls

TAGS: , ,

PI girls, Halloween is right around the corner! If you’re choosing to celebrate this year, you may still be on the hunt for the perfect costume. But, as you’ve likely discovered, it can be hard to find costumes that are modest and appropriate, even if you’re shopping in the “teen” department.

The following 10 outfits all are from the “teen” and “tween” costume departments of popular retailers…and are good examples of what NOT to wear! Do you agree?

1. Unicorn

A unicorn is a cute costume idea–but not when the costume itself is this short!

2. “Spanish Seniorita”

The asymmetrical ruching makes this dress far too immodest!

3. “Major Trouble”

From the cheesy name to the short, tight dress, there’s nothing inspired about this costume!

4. Betty Boop

A short, tight, strapless dress, plus a garter?! This Betty Boop costume is WAY inappropriate!

5. “Racy Referee”

Eek! No young woman should wear a costume that advertises itself as “racy!”

6. Firefighter

This short dress and high boots are far too revealing!

7. Lady Gaga

Not only is this costume a little too short, but also Lady Gaga is dark woman who should not be celebrated or praised. We should be praying for her, not dressing up as her for Halloween!

8. Supergirl

A superhero costume is a fun idea, but make sure it’s one that doesn’t reveal your midriff and most of your legs!

9. “Devil Doll”

Dressing up like the devil invites in bad energy! Instead of a dark costume like this one, opt for one that promotes lightness and good instead.

10.  Pixie Fairy

This costume would be sweet and fun–if it was longer and exposed less cleavage!

Ladies, it IS possible to find pretty, appropriate and modest Halloween costumes! If you do choose to celebrate Halloween this year, remember to be a light and to shine brightly for God!

Are you dressing up this Halloween? Do you have a costume yet?

I’m making a homemade Bat girl costume because of course the one at the store is far too inappropriate.

i have a question. what good is it to put up articles about innapropriate outfits, or articles on cosmo magazines? i am not saying that it’s bad to put up those articles i just think it’s wrong to expose the articles inside, or post pictures of what the stuff look’s like because after that i have a good idea of what not to wear for halloween, but my eyes are forever scarred by those images. or my ear’s are scarred by the articles inside the cosmo magazines. but i love the cause and the articles. i just feel like i have to skip on the part’s when you say what’s inside and why it’s wrong. because i already know it’s wrong. but then again some girl’s don’t. i don’t know. i’m just thinking here.

    • HurricaneMurphGirl

For the Cosmo videos, Nicole always warns us if she’s going to be reading from the magazine. And really, you see this kind of immodesty just going to WAL-MART (sad, but true), so in my opinion, I am no more scarred by seeing THIS then I would be walking out in public. Unfortunately, you cannot hide from impurity. It is present almost everywhere in the world. All you can do, is remember what is not good and not participate in it. In some cases, you can even speak out against it! (Kindly, of course.)

    • Project Inspired Member

yeah just let other people look at it to see that it is innapropriate for themselves and you yourself can skip on looking at it since you happen to know. like you said. some girls don’t and it’s good to let them decide for themselves that it’s wrong. :) great thinking tho.

  3. rachel2017

Don’t forget schoolgirls and bunnies. No.
I’m dressing up as Katniss! :)

  4. techmonkey27

I’m being Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter (Yes, I know some people don’t like Harry Potter but my parents/pastors have no problem with it).
I really hate seeing the Harry Potter costumes all sexualized like these! That’s not the point of the books at all! You can’t really find any costume that hasn’t been sexualized!

    • Nellie

Yeah, it totally just seems like the people coming together to make these costumes are just thinking up the most sexualized version of something, or anything that is easy to be sexualized or is closely associated with chaos and sexuality…. really??? I think that is just wrong!!!!
And, even though i have been an angel and a cat and dorothy and stuff, i have also gone as a witch before… a cute little girl one that was basically just a hat and a broom, but the history of Halloween is basically evil anyway… (the history i looked it up once, it is about how people would set out food on a certain night for the dead and ghosts to come and eat it instead of them, and some trouble making kids decided to dress up as monsters and ghosts in order to get free snacks)either you should dress up as something (obviously modest no matter what it is) or not celebrate halloween at all!! I know that seems harsh, who doesnt want free candy? But really, it is a holiday meant to glorify evil…

Seeing sexualized Harry Potter costumes just make me mad!

  5. xJesusLovesYoux

I’m going as angel for halloween, its the same as what I was last year but I decided I can wear it again :)

  6. Project Inspired Member

I’m dressing up as the Cheshire Cat! XD I’m making it myself~! I got the idea because I have this striped, violet shirt that reminds me of the Cat from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. I’d love to show it, maybe we can have an article showing the costumes PI girls wore this Halloween?

  7. Midnight

I don’t dress up for Halloween! Not many people I know do this but my family refuses to celebrate it, since its basically a holiday for spirits and devils and promotes evil and such :p.. SO! I dress in my normal clothes :p

  8. Twipi

I’m dressing up as Robin from Batman. The skirt was waaaay too short though so I got leggings to put under it.

  9. KPriorify

I live in Maine. We were trudging through a foot of snow last year on Halloween. Do you think a dress is going to work for me? :P :)

My friends and I are making three superhero costumes for ourselves using tight black sweatpants, long sleeved turtlenecks, capes, thick belts, eyemasks and tall boots.

  10. Project Inspired Member

You know what’s ironic. Before I stopped celebrating halloween and before my entire family came to Christ…I had the 3rd costume in this article (it was that or major flirt I forgot) I was IDK 7,8 maybe? They had that same one in the kids, teens and adult section.I think the only reason why I got it was because of the cute combat boots the girl was wearing.I went to a halloween party with it and me and another girl were wearing the same thing! Looking back on this I realized that it was wwaaaaayyyy too inappropriate! But my parents didn’t know and I didn’t either. We honestly didn’t. But now we do.

I’m writing “The Ceiling is #1″ in makeup on my hands and face, and taping it to my shirt and a hat. I’ll be a ceiling fan – it’s a costume that’s entertaining and at the same time can be worn with just jeans, and not these skimpy outfits. ~designerlemonade

I agree with some comments. Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate. How about what TO wear. I think that would be better and more appropriate.

    • kara719

She already posted that article. Also in this one she did give tips on how to make them more appropriate.

  13. lifeissuprising

I’m going to be Doctor Who, 100% Covered. Homeade costumes all the wayyyy

    • pinkpenguin318

I’d LOVE to see your costume!! I LOVE Dr. WHo! Which “reincarnation” of the Doctor are you going to be?? :D

      • I will share my costume on Halloween- I’m really ezxcited to show you girls!

  14. jesus_loves_you0812

I’m going to be a loofah aka bath poof that me and my best friend made. It is completely covered with leggings and t shirts. Mine is blue, hers is pink! I have an idea. Nicole should create a special page to share our Halloween costumes. Kind of like the sharing God wall!

I think a lot of things about Christians these days is judging and promoting what they hate. I think Christians should be the opposite. Promote what you love. Ignore the bad, don’t judge, don’t hate just promote what you think is right and what you love!! In politics too, people will bash one side. How about say what you love about your political side?

  16. Project Inspired Member

Hey, can we get an article on what are fun and appropriate halloween costumes ideas too?!

  17. Project Inspired Member

    I’m gunna be a 50′s girl! (:
Its a cute and modest alternative to these and its soo easy too! (: I’m super excited

  18. pinkpenguin318

I hate that all the store-bought costumes are basically stripper outfits. It’s sad. If I’m going to dress up for the holiday, I’m going to create my own costume because A) it’s cheaper, and B) it’s more original. My version of a fun Halloween costume is a little make-up (for example, lots of eye shadow and lipstick if you’re going to be, say, a pop star) and it’s going to be modest. And there’s nothing wrong with some of these costumes–like the pixie fairy or Super Girl–it’s just how much clothes you wear that matters the most.

  19. Project Inspired Member

So, of course I agree on all this stuff, but maybe instead of posting pictures of what not to wear you could give us ideas of things that are okay. We all have seen costumes like these and will know exactly what you are talking about when you say to avoid short skirts and midriff-baring costumes.

Also: It is too cold where I live to actually wear any of this stuff anyway lol :P

  20. HollyIsInspired

The last two years I have made my Halloween costume and loved them! Last year I was a faerie, made a naturesque shirt and tutu that were definitely more modest than the one above and I liked it a lot more than ones in the stores because I got to decide what colors I put into the costume. The year prior I was Pebbles Flintstone! They were both so much fun! I love dressing up in character for Halloween! I love owls so much so this year I’m going to be an owl. I’m going to be working on my costume soon actually :)

  21. Project Inspired Member

my family thinks its wrong to celebrate it.

  22. Project Inspired Member

lol I’m being the unicorn for halloween

  23. Project Inspired Member

well some of the costumes are alright that are shown above but too short, id just wear leggings under them. =)

  24. Project Inspired Member

I going to be an angel this year :)

  25. Paris

I can’t wait to see all the cute costumes the litte kids will be wearing this year!

  26. Project Inspired Member

i am taking these as an insult! firefighters, soldiers, and anybody else that puts their lives in danger to save ours should not be turned into a mini dress!

  27. Musician4Life

I love dressing up for Halloween :D its so much fun! This year I’m going as a punk rock girl. Basically its just black clothes, which is nothing new for me. But I’m spray-dyeing my hair black and red and wearing extreme black makeup. I never use store costumes; they’re so inappropriate and never fit right. Plus you can make anything you want when you make your own!

  28. Project Inspired Member

I made my own costume this year. it’s WAY more modest than anything i could find in a store!

  29. Project Inspired Member

In Buffalo all these girls would freeze their buns off on Halloween, this year its even supposed to snow. Ive worn snowsuits under my coustumes before.

  30. SlinkyKitty88

Y’all didn’t really need to post pictures of all these costumes. They’re all the same. Short, tight, too much cleavage. That seems to be the only costume choice for women, which is rather sad.
Though really, that Betty Boop costume is more modest than the real Betty Boop’s dress. ;P

  31. horse-lover

I have a costume that I’ve used for about 3 years now. It’s a ivory colored Renaissance/Medieval dress that has a train and goes all the way down to the floor. I absolutely love it. There are a lot of dresses like it out there, and it’s definitely a good way to go for Halloween.

  32. sisterwhocares

Yuck! I also noticed that even in the little girls section, the costumes are getting more sexualized as well :P . I am going as a pirate this year because it was the only costume I could find that didn’t squish up my boobs to high places (seriously, corsets are not only immodest, but REALLY uncomfortable as well!) or was too short. The only ones you forgot were the nurse and french maid costumes; very innapropiate!

  33. applebypie123

you know these are actually better than most halloween costumes i see

  34. MarianaFlowers

yes this is so true! I always try to find nice costumes for halloween and they’re all soo inappropriate for young teens. It’s ridiculous! so I usually end up making up a costume at home because most of the stores in my town just have really inappropriate costumes for teens.

  35. beautiful_ending

I have never bought a costume before, but in the modest Halloween article Nicole put up, I found an idea. I have never seen the movie, but I am going as the girl from Snow White and the Huntsman. I found a costume only, but it was wayyy to big, so my mom had to take it in. But it isn’t sexual at all and I have no epidermis showing on my legs. The only part that isn’t very modest is the arm, and it laces up. But it’s on the arm :P

  36. Project Inspired Member

I don’t do halloween. I think it’s a strange cultural norm. I don’t accept it. It’s not just Christianity that I is influencing me to have this opinion, it’s questioning how odd life today is. I just don’t understand halloween.

  37. Project Inspired Member

I was Tippi Hendren’s character in the Hitchcock film The Birds for Halloween! She is so gorgeous, and her style is modest. I found a beautiful dress that fell just below the knee, a little jacket, and a vintage fur collar and pillbox cap :)

  38. Project Inspired Member

I <3 the Lady Gaga costume! its super cute!!

  39. tomboy_loves_Tigers

I was a Southern belle this year, with a long classic dress that went all the way to the floor and exposed no cleavage. It was the cutest Halloween costume I’ve ever worn!

  40. Project Inspired Member

My best friend and I were farmers, we said we almost felt we were to covered up!

  41. Project Inspired Member

This is absolutely ridiculous! You are a christian based site PROMOTING HALLOWEEN?! Why not just go as Lady Gaga, celebrating halloween isn’t very far off from listening to her music. How disappointing.

“Halloween is the modern name for Samhain, an ancient Celtic holy day which many Neopagans — especially Wiccans, Druids and Celtic Reconstructionists — celebrate as a spiritual beginning of a new year. Halloween is a time to lift the veil between the many material and spiritual worlds in divination, so as to gain spiritual insight about our pasts and futures. Halloween is a time to deepen our connection to the cycles of the seasons, to the generations that have come before us and those that will follow, and to the GODS and GODDESSES we worship.”

  43. Project Inspired Member

For Halloween I wore black jeggings, a black t-shirt and a black jacket, put my hair in pig-tails and made cat whiskers with eyeliner. $1 dollar costume there lol. :p I am a cheepo, but at least I’m modest and creative! :)
