TODAY’S HOT TOPIC: Was Taylor Swift’s AMA Performance a Sign of Things to Come?

Taylor Swift performed her single “I Knew You Were Trouble” at the American Music Awards last night. If you’re unfamiliar with the song, it features some dubstep and more of a pop sound from Swift:

Some Swift fans are loving the “sexier” side of the musician, but others are saying it doesn’t reflect the country artist they used to know. Are they right? I wonder if the change of dress is a telling sign of the Taylor Swift to come.

Is the transition from pure angelic white to a red bodice and black lace a message that she herself is transitioning? Even her choreography becomes a tad questionable after the outfit change.

Swift was always a bright star of hope. She became a superstar without taking her clothes off. Has she become tired of that persona? Have her associations with more risqué artists become an influence on her? Or is she just growing up and evolving? And are you girls okay with that?

Do you think Swift is slowly transitioning away from her “good girl” image and revealing a wilder side? Tell us what you think and whether you like this side of her or not.

I agree w/ abbie478, most Hollywood people start out so pure and sweet, but then all the fame and fortune change them into these…. well, monsters! =(
I hope someone takes a stand sooner or later!

It always happens in Hollywood sooner or later. But you cant help but hope sometimes that at least one celeb will stay decent…..

i’ve seen worse. at least she’s making the transition slowly, rather then as most stars did. she is almost 23. she is growing up,and no one can stop that. but in a long run i’ve seen wores. it wasn’t like any private parts were showing,so i seriously think she’s fine. there’s nothing you can do about, nothing i can do about it,she’s just changing. we all change.

I love Taylor Swift. She is turning 23 soon. She is an adult that is free to make her own decisions. I think everyone should let her be who she wants.

I personally am disappointed that she isn’t country anymore. I really enjoy country music and I like her country music, but I am no longer a fan of her because of her change in music and I don’t particularly care for the way she is performing.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with Taylor’s new image. If anything I think it is classier than her old strapless sparkly dresses (not that I didnt love that) Just because she sings an up beat song in a fire red dress does not mean she is setting a bad example. I think she is just simply not 15 anymore.

I’m a fan of Taylor for many reasons, two being that she doesn’t use any curse words (in the songs I’ve heard, anyway) and she doesn’t dress like Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, etc. whether it be for performances or “street-style”. She and Selena Gomez are two of my favorite female singers for those reasons, although I do know that Selena is sometimes seen wearing inappropriate outfits, but they’re certainly not as bad as, say, Gaga’s recently debuted meat corset *shudder*. Going back to Nicki, I’d like to see a post on Nicole’s personal opinion on her, if possible. She’s quite the character!

Taylor swift is changing, and i can not say i like it, her dress ,well in my opinion is ugly and she used to be so much better once she switched dresses it ruined the performance, i think.

It’s so wierd to see Taylor Swift dressing and acting the way she has lately! She seems to be drifting away from her innocence. I miss the old Taylor Swift. She is a role model for many girls and when she goes prancing around with men on the stage with a sleevless, see-through dress it sets an example for those girls. Especially the younger ones, if they see her dressed and acting like that they will think it is okay for them to do the same.

Yes, I would have to agree on that! My own pre-teen little sister loves her and I think I may have to tell her about what Taylor is slowing becoming.

I’ve been a fan of Taylor from the beginning and when Speak Now came out I could tell she wasn’t going to stay a country star forever. She is transitioning to pop and while I like her new album Red I miss the old her. I don’t think this performance is bad while it does look like she’s taking off her good girl image, at least she is still covered up which is a lot more than you can say for most stars. Some of the songs on Red though have some pretty suggestive lyrics but I think the fact that she is an adult not just a teenager and she’s still keeping herself out of trouble is something she should be commended for. Even if she isn’t the little girl she was, she’s growing up, we all do. At least she isn’t hanging out at clubs or breaking the law. 🙂

I don’t think she looked inappropriate at all. Her outfit mostly covers her, and I don’t see any cleavage.

Nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. I don’t think her outfit was inappropiate at all, but I have to say it was a bit different for her. Some of the dancing was a little strange, but she knows how young her fans are and she knows not to go over board with anything. 🙂 Sooo…it wasn’t too bad! 😉

I personally think she is changing but in a good way. She is 22 about to turn 23 she may want to break out of the good girl image but we can’t change that. That’s just what she wants to do.
