Recently I highlighted a song by Brad Paisley and Sara Evans called, New Again, about The Passion. Every time I hear that song I get emotional. We also received an email from a young reader, Autumn, who wrote that Josh Turner’s song, Long Black Train “opened [her] eyes up to God and helped [her] understand that He’s watching.” Take a listen for yourself.
Unlike Christian music, not all country music is faith-based and devoted to God. But there are some gems out there that praise God and all His goodness. A lot of country music also reflects Christian values. You need to pick and choose your artists, but if you’re looking to expand your music interest without compromising your love for God, consider some country music artists or songs.
Below are my top 10 favorite country songs that glorify God.
1. New Again – Brad Paisley and Sara Evans

2. Jesus Take the Wheel – Carrie Underwood
3. God Must Really Love Me – Craig Morgan
4. Long Black Train – Josh Turner (See above)
5. Believe -Brooks & Dunn
6. You’re Not My God – Keith Urban
7. He Ain’t the Leaving Kind – Rascal Flatts
8. There Will Come a Day – Faith Hill
9. When I Get Where I’m Going – Brad Paisley with Dolly Parton
10. Bless the Broken Road – Rascal Flatts
I hope you enjoyed my selections.
Do you listen to country music? Do you have a favorite country song that you feel glorifies God?
That’s Why I Pray by Big and Rich is amazing!!! Also, a newer band called Eden’s Edge did a cover of In Christ Alone. It’s beautiful!!! Stand Up by Sugarland is also awesome 🙂 It’s about standing up for what you believe in!
The Rascal Flatts song is my absolute favorite. I found it when I was going through a rough breakup, and it helped me fully realize that the only person who will never leave me is the only One I’ll ever need! It’s basically mine and God’s love song! 🙂
I LOVE ALL COUNTRY
I love the song ammirillo sky by Jason Aldean. It’s kinda Christian, I mean the guy in the song is praying
This wasn’t in here but it is such a good song!! I definitely recommend listening to it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVgfHz_f4Os
I’m from the south and grow up on country music and though I don’t listen to country music any more, This song Believe by Brooks & Dunn will always be a beautiful song to me:) and one that makes me cry.
I love Carrie Underwood and her voice!!!
I have listened to most of these songs growing up and I love them <3 Another great one if you look at in the perspective of Jesus singing it to you is "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts. We listened to it this weekend at the YES! retreat and I hadn't looked at it that way before but now it's soo amazing
I LOVE the song ‘Jesus Take The Wheel’!
My friends uncle wrote god bless the broken road I was blessed to meet Rascal Flatts:)
‘There Is A God’ by Lee Ann Womack is a great song!
I’ve grown up with country music and I only listen to country and gospel/Christian music. Scotty McCreery is my favorite singer and he is a Christian. He promotes God and before every concert, he shows a WorldVision video. I’m proud to be able to call myself a McCreerian!!!
I live 30mins away from his hometown. and like 15 from his college
I love country music, although I have recently been listening to Natalie Grant and Kari Jobe…(and some secular music, which I don’t suggest to listen to over all genres.) I absolutely love the song “New Again” by Brad Paisley and Sara Evans…I was tearing up watching the video about the crucixfiction.
God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton! One of my fav songs!
“God Gave Me You” – Blake Shelton
“When I Get Where I’m Going”. Oh my, I love that song so much. ♥
I love country music! I listen to all country music. 🙂
#9 (When I Get Where I’m Going) absolutely brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it. It reminds me of my past, especially my eighth birthday when my grandpa died. That song was played at his funeral!
Blake Shelton has the song god gave me you and it is a really pretty country song.
Carrie Underwood’s “Something in the Water”, brand new, powerful song
Oh my goodness, yessss!!! I LOVE country music, and I love all of these songs. Had heard probably every one except New Again, and I almost cried when I heard that one!! Love your list!! (although I’d probably approve of any list with Josh Turner hehe!)
