We get it…sometimes you just want to stay inside and watch hours of Netflix! To that end, we’ve rounded up five TV shows and five movies for you to watch this summer. Just be careful—don’t marathon them all in one sitting!
TV SHOWS
Once Upon a Time (TV-G) – Your favorite classic Disney fairy tales are reimagined in this TV series full of action and drama.
Too Cute (PG) – This Animal Planet TV show follows a different litter of puppies or kittens as you watch each adorable animal grow up.
Heartland (TV-PG) – A teenager loses her mother and deals with the possibility of losing her grandfather’s ranch in this TV drama. It shows how a family holds it together through good and tough times.
Friday Night Lights (TV-PG) – Follow the excitement and drama of a Texas high school with a very competitive football team.
Dr. Who (TV-PG) – Catch the doctor in his wild time-traveling, alien-fighting, epic sci-fi adventures!
MOVIES
The Hunger Games (PG-13) – Adventure, drama and romance can all be found in this movie based on the popular Hunger Games book series. Plus, it will get you pumped for the latest segment coming out this fall!
Holes (PG) – Books based on movies are awesome, like this one about a boy sent to a juvenile detention camp. The kids have to dig holes to build character, but so much more is revealed!
13 Going on 30 (PG-13) – Do you ever wish you could just be an adult already? That’s what happens to the teen in this movie, and all sorts of shenanigans ensue.
Emma (PG) – This romantic comedy stars Gwyneth Paltrow in a movie based on a Jane Austen classic novel about manners and matchmaking.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (PG-13) – This is an oldie but a goodie! Ferris Bueller is a high school student who drops everything for a day in exchange for adventure.
PI Girls, what movies or TV shows are you watching on Netflix these days?

13 going on 30 is a good movie…Ferris Bueller’s is a really good one too. And of course the Hunger games is good, but I’ve seen it a million times, plus it’s not a happy movie. 🙂
Friday Night Lights sounds awesome! especially with high school.. football games etc! And of course another teen uplifting movie! 2 of my favorites are How To Save A Life and Grace Unplugged
Once Upon A Time is my all-time favorite show!! Totally recommend! But it is kinda slow at first, but once you get to Season 3, you will love it. I promise!

Ahh!! Once upon a time is SOOOOO good, I caught up on the 3rd season in a couple days. Doctor Who is amazing as well x3
Doctor Who is cool and fantastic! I love Emma, as well. Once Upon A Time was good at the beginning, but it got really complicated so I don’t watch it anymore.
Holes, Hunger Games, and Doctor Who are great! I’ve never seen the others.
OMG! Emma is the best, it made me cry!
I love Doctor Who, however I was slightly shocked that you posted about it if you know nothing about it. Because if you have even watched one episode you would know never to abrivate Doctor because it is a name
Once Upon a Time, Too Cute, Doctor Who, The Hunger Games, and Emma. May The Lord continue to bless Project Inspired! You have chosen just a few of my obsessions.
Thanks for the other suggestions!
Not a bad list, but how about a book list instead? and ones that aren’t movies yet.
Yes I’m so glad you posted Once Upon a Time! It’s the first show I’ve actually really liked in a long time! I’ve always loved the Disney fairytales and seeing them come to life is too cool!

Okay, I might get a lot of hate… But I still think Doctor Who is better then OUAT…..
I like Doctor Who too. I like burned through them on netflix in like two weeks. Now I’m waiting in agony for series eight and the twelfth doctor.
I just started watching Once Upon a time, and although I liked it very much, multiple people are sleeping around and having affairs. And the show doesn’t make it look like such a bad thing. I was just wondering how to reconcile watching it with my Christian world view.
I love Once Upon A Time. Me and my best friend watched the first 24 episodes last Saturday and Sunday.
I like Once Upon A Time.
FERRIS BUELLER IS MY FAVORITE! IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THAT MOVIE YET, WATCH IT!!!!!!

If anyone would like to know any titles of any Christian films on Netflix, here are a couple of fairly new ones that are currently available.
Camp Harlow (New! Great for Teens, about a bully in high school )
The Sixth Inn of Happiness( Classic Film:Wonderful true story about a missionary)
Revelation Road 1&2 (End times Thriller Action Packed!)
Running Inside Out (Great for teens and young adults or any age)
Unstoppable (New! Christian Doc. With Kirk Cameron)
Just to name a few. As a Christian I believe we have to go beyond just entertainment.I find that Christian movies keep me satisfied and God centered. When I have found that regular movies oftentimes do the opposite and keep you wanting more or feeling empty. Christian films though few are always more uplifting and deep. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (Colossians 3:1)
