Last Christmas, we posted a surprise giveaway for you gals that featured you sharing your favorite holiday songs with us. We loved reading about all of your favorite Christmas songs, and shared 15 of your top picks in a roundup a few weeks later.
We thought it might be fun to revisit that list for a new holiday playlist with your treasured tunes and some of the reasons why you picked the ones you did. You selected such an amazingly wide variety of songs that it was hard to choose, but we hope you enjoy this little playlist…and Merry Christmas!
Britt Nicole – “Jingle Bell Rock”
Joyous One says: “I just love her voice and her style! Her outfit is just sooo cute! I love the song because she puts a fun and carefree sound to the music. Britt Nicole is an inspiration and a very good role model. She rocks!”
Jason Gray – “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
Champ2343 says: “I love the song because it talks about the true meaning of Christmas: celebrating Jesus’ birth!”
Blackmore’s Night – “I Saw Three Ships”
“It’s a cheerful, old song. It always makes me imagine the Magi sailing in with all their splendor to give presents to Jesus.”
Go Fish Guys – “Christmas with a Capital C”
Sarah72 says: “It hilariously explains the problems surrounding our modern view of Christmas. The world can change the name, but they can’t change the reason. Like Thanksgiving isn’t Turkey Thursday, Christmas isn’t X-Mas or Happy Holidays. There is a point behind the name: Jesus, Christ! It’s called Christmas with a capital C!!”
Disney – “Sleigh Ride”
jesuslovesyou13 says: “I first heard it when I was really young on a Disney Christmas Song Sing-Along cassette tape. Ever since then I’ve been in love with it. I can’t listen to or sing this song without smiling.”
Steven Curtis Chapman – “This Baby”
olburrows says: “I love it because it explains how incredible God is and what he did for us. And because of the great tune and vocals, of course.”
BarlowGirl – “Hallelujah (Light Has Come)”
vonamc13 says: “I just love this song! I put holiday song in air quotes because it’s kinda an all-year song…how versatile!…lol…well, it sounds mysterious and beautiful and I love it especially around Christmas. Mostly because it reminds us of how Christmas is really about Jesus…with black Friday, Santa Claus and our culture, we are continuously forgetting the true meaning! Kids grow up thinking Christmas is about getting gifts from a so-called Santa Claus, who is completely stealing the spotlight from Jesus. I just feel bad that he doesn’t even get recognized on his own birthday sometimes with some people. This is the season of GIVING because the day he was born, he gave us much [more] than diamonds or gold…he gave us hope for a future beyond our world, where we could be at peace, and now it’s been morphed into a season of GETTING lots of presents that in three years we won’t even care about. But in heaven, his gift will be all that matters. Don’t get me wrong, gifts and giving are great, even black Friday, I guess. Maybe even Christmas lists, caroling and anything you might think of. Just don’t forget who gave you everything you have.”
Carrie Underwood – “O Holy Night”
Rebecca Schwartz says: “One of my favorite Christmas songs is “O, Holy Night”! I love that song and I love Carrie Underwood’s version of it.”
Bobby Helms – “Jingle Bell Rock”
belladragonz says: “I absolutely love this song because of all the wonderful memories [of] singing it with my best friends!”
Carrie Underwood – “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
kellybarta14 said: “This is definitely my favorite Christmas song of all time! I just love how it takes me to the time and place when I hear it.”
