2014 PI Year-End Recap and Survey!

Phew, 2014…what a year! We asked our contributors about their favorite movie, TV show, book and other best picks of the year, and here are their answers!

What was your favorite movie of 2014?

Jenn: Probably Guardians of the Galaxy. I love Marvel comics and I have a lot in common with Rocket Raccoon.

T.M.: Moms’ Night Out (closely followed by Son of God and God’s Not Dead).

Christi: The Fault in Our Stars.

Dave: Interstellar (IMAX).

Julie: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1. I couldn’t believe it, but the movie was actually better than the book!

What was your favorite TV show of 2014?

Jenn: Same as the year before—Doctor Who!

T.M.: Duck Dynasty.

Christi: The Voice and Downton Abbey (what a well-made series!).

Dave: The Walking Dead.

Julie: Once Upon a Time.

What was your favorite album of 2014?

Jenn: Is it weird that my favorite album this year is Rend Collective’s Christmas album, Campfire Christmas? I waited all year for it!

T.M.: Jamie Grace’s Ready to Fly.

Christi: Kari Jobe’s Majestic worship album.

Dave: Manchester Orchestra’s Hope.

Julie: Know Society by Josh Sallee. I couldn’t stop listening to it!

What was your favorite book of 2014?

Jenn: The Grave Robber by Mark Batterson.

T.M.: T.M. Gaouette’s Freeing Tanner Rose, of course!

Christi: The Bible. 😉 I’m studying the book of Revelation right now, so that is currently my favorite. If I need to pick a book outside of the Bible, of course Nicole’s testimonial book, Into the Light: My Journey From the Glare of Hollywood to the Glow of God’s Love, is by far my favorite book of the year! What an answer to prayer; God has done Ephesians 3:20!

Dave: Love Does by Bob Goff.

Julie: Kisses from Katie by Katie J. Davis.

What was your favorite PI article you wrote in 2014?

Jenn:God’s Promises in the Valley.”

T.M.:7 Truths About Pornography” because it shed light on a really important topic, allowed our girls to share their struggles and inspired many to turn away from the sin.

Christi:I Will Wait for You Spoken Word

Dave: 41 Christian Problems You’ll Laugh At

Julie: Probably “Embrace Your Natural Hair Texture.” It was one of the first I wrote for PI and it was really well received and proved that lots of readers agree—beauty is about loving what God gave you!

What was your favorite worship song of 2014?

Jenn: “We Believe” by the Newsboys.

T.M.: Kari Jobe’s “Breathe on Us.”

Christi: “Forever” by Kari Jobe and “Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace)” by Hillsong.

Dave: Hillsong’s “Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace).”

Julie: “Held” by Natalie Grant.

What is a verse or scripture passage that really spoke to you in 2014?

Jenn: Matthew 7:7-8: “Ask and you will receive what you ask for. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” And Psalm 145:5: “I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.”

T.M.: Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Christi: Isaiah 54.

Dave: Phil 4:13 was my promise verse for 2014.

Julie: Ephesians 3:14-21—the “Prayer for Spiritual Strength.”
