God has not forgotten you. In fact, you are always on His radar! So what does the Creator, our Father, think when He sees you? Here are a few things we know about the character of His thoughts based on scripture.
1. “I have loved you, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” (Jeremiah 31:3) So many times we find ourselves looking for love in all the wrong places. Human love tends to be limited, sometimes unreliable, unfaithful or simply non-understanding. But God has stored for you the love that nothing on this Earth can meet. Right now, no matter who you are or what you’ve done, God is beckoning for your heart to be consumed with Him because He loves you with a love that never fails, never gives up and will always be faithful. He wants to show you the best experience in love.
2. “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” (Jeremiah 29:13) This is not just a principle, but a promise. God wants to reveal Himself to you in deeper ways, but every relationship is a two-way street. If you make an intentional and genuine effort to know more of God, He will manifest in your life in greater ways. That may look like reading more of your Bible and letting it actually change your life, making your thanksgiving and desires known in constant prayer, feeding your soul with worship music or surrounding yourself with more people who are seeking Him, too. He wants you to seek Him wholeheartedly.
3. “I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6) Sometimes we can get so caught up in doing the work of God that we lose intimacy with the God of our work. So what is God saying to you? He wants more than what you do. He wants more than your rituals of going to church on the weekends. He wants more than your Bible postings on social media. He wants your actual heart. He desires for you to find the intimacy of knowing Him by surrendering yourself to His love. Right now He wants you to know Him deeply.
4. “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” (Psalm 32:8) Have you given your day to God yet? Believe it or not, God is interested in every detail of your life, just like the Father that He is. Those things that concern you about your future, He’s invested in because of His love for you. When you rest on His mind, He can’t help but want to give you the best direction for your life. You should know that right now God wants to guide you.
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! (Psalm 139:17)
It’s disheartening that many times when we think of God’s thoughts of us, we assume that they are consumed with shame, rejection and abandonment because of our failures or even our rebellion. How amazing is it to know that the exact opposite is true? His thoughts of you are endlessly precious with every motive to win you back to His heart because He cares for you. Hopefully this is a reminder that not only are you not forgotten, but you are watched over and cared for every moment of every day.
