4 Ways You Can Reach out This Thanksgiving!

Girls, Thanksgiving is a day of appreciation–we get to spend the day with family and thank our Lord Jesus Christ for all the many blessings He’s bestowed upon us!

But Thanksgiving also is a day of service on which we can reach out to those who are in need.

If you’re looking for opportunities to give back this Thanksgiving, try one (or more!) of these four ideas:

    1. Donate a Thanksgiving basket. There are many organizations that collect Thanksgiving baskets, such as Catholic Charities. Just make sure that the organization is legitimate and that the baskets do go to families in need.
    2. Volunteer at a soup kitchen. The best way to help the homeless is to assist at a food kitchen, where you can not only serve a warm Thanksgiving meal, but also spread a little holiday cheer!
    3. Visit hospital patients or old age homes. You may want to do this through your church, as some homes and hospitals don’t allow non-family visitors. But many children and elderly folk are spending Thanksgiving alone and a visit would surely cheer them up.
    4. Contact your church and find out what they have planned this Thanksgiving. They may need help preparing or serving a Thanksgiving meal for community members without family, or putting together Thanksgiving care packages for soldiers spending their holiday abroad.

Ladies, do you and your family reach out in service on Thanksgiving? How do you help those in need during the holidays?

      • @unicorns4567. I think if you apologize to God and you really mean it, and you decide never to make fun of him again, he will forgive you. Making fun of him and Catholics is definetly not something you want to make a habit of. 🙁

Being a child of God is like a way of life, from how I see it right now. God will always accept you back into his arms if you desire him and not a cover up for evil.

    1. My family will be helping with an organization similar to a soup kitchen this year. We’ve had tragic things happen in our lives these past few years, and we feel we should help others (regardless of our circumstances).

    2. We aren’t doing the nursing home visit for Thanksgiving, but we are doing it for Christmas,we,as in my awesome church! :)We sing christmas songs and give them coffe cups full of hard candies!(Old people LOVE hard candy) and gifts!
