PI ladies, we all have moments of doubt. Sometimes we doubt ourselves, sometimes we doubt our abilities and sometimes we doubt God’s love for us.
When we doubt, we’re usually questioning what is good, so the sooner we get out of the rut, the better.
Besides prayer, I find that music is a great way of lifting myself out of the pit of sadness or doubt. I wanted to share some special songs with you. They are inspiring and motivating, and most of all, they carry me whenever I lose my way.
When I feel tiny in this world, or lost completely, I turn to a song by Casting Crowns called “Who Am I.” This song reminds me that He who is the Alpha and the Omega, He who is the Almighty, He who is the Omnipotent, loves little me. And He loves you, too. And it’s a love that we could never fathom.
Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth, Would care to know my name, Would care to feel my hurt?…Not because of who I am, But because of what You’ve done, Not because of what I’ve done, But because of who You are… And You told me who I am, I am Yours.
In times of frustration, when my wants exceed my needs, the following song brings me back to what’s important in life. Often we get lost in all those materialistic desires, when our focus should never leave Christ. Lecrae reminds me of this with his song, “Don’t Waste Your Life.”
If you making money hope you doing it right because the money is God’s you better steward it right, Stay focused if you ain’t got no ride, Your life ain’t wrapped up in what you drive, The clothes you wear the job you work, The color your skin naw we Christian first.
Do you ever find yourself just wishing a day or an event were over? It doesn’t have to be a bad time, just a moment that interferes with your regular schedule, or a stressful event you’ve had anxieties about. Regretfully, I’ve felt that way about birthday parties, and sometimes my day has been so stressed that I couldn’t wait until the kids’ bedtime. But life’s so short! Kenny Chesney’s song “Don’t Blink” is a huge eye-opener for me.
Best start putting first things first, ‘Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand, You can’t flip it over and start again, Take every breathe God gives you for what it’s worth, Don’t blink, ’cause just like that you’re six years old, And you take a nap, And you wake up and you’re 25, And your high school sweetheart becomes your wife.
I have a desire to do something amazing with my life. I believe that many of us do. But sometimes it just seems like too much work, and it’s easier to just go through the motions. But allowing life to lead you through the ordinary, rather than directing your life through the extraordinary, is a waste. The next song, “The Motions” by Matthew West, drives me to do more with the life that God gave me.
This might hurt, It’s not safe, But I know that I’ve gotta make a change, I don’t care, If I break, At least I’ll be feeling something, ‘Cause just ok, is not enough, Help me fight through the nothingness of life, I don’t wanna go through the motions, I don’t wanna go one more day, Without Your all-consuming passion inside of me, I don’t wanna spend my whole life asking, What if I had given everything? Instead of going through the motions.
We all feel discouraged. And sometimes when life beats us down, it seems like too much of a weary process to get back up and keep pushing on. But we have to. Because life will continue to challenge us, so we might as well learn how to overcome those obstacles. “Stand” by Rascal Flatts is a great song for this.
You feel like a candle in a hurricane, Just like a picture with a broken frame, Alone and helpless, like you’ve lost your fight, But you’ll be alright, you’ll be alright…On your knees you look up, Decide you’ve had enough, You get mad, you get strong, Wipe your hands, shake it off, Then you stand.
PI ladies, I hope you liked my song selections–it was a pleasure to share them with you. Which is your favorite? Do you have a particular song that helps you clear up moments of doubt?
I like the Lecrea and the Matthew West song.
I like the Matthew West song.
“Set the World on Fire” and “Your Way” by Britt Nicole really help me. So does “Your Love Never Fails” which is either Hillsong or Jesus Culture or something like that.
“Set the World on Fire” is awesome!
Its Bethel 😀
Thank you for sharing those with us. God bless.
One song that I like to listen to when I’m feeling like I have no purpose is a song called “Made To Love” by Toby Mac. I reminds me that I was made to love God, and He has it all under control.
Dont Blink is a great song!
Dont Blink is a great song, and I’d never thought of it that way, thanks!
These are some of my favorite songs ^.^ I love casting crowns <3
Omg I.listen to all this song
I absolutely LOVE Lecrae and Casting Crowns! Whenever I have a bad day or am tempted to have a “pity party”, I just start singing one of their songs (or a Tobymac song) to help me keep focusing on God instead of myself!
I love the song don’t blink 🙂
I LOVE THAT MATTHEW WEST SONG!!!! And I love it all the more, because it reminds me of Mission trips, because it TOTALLY explains every reason I go. And it applies to daily life too.
I love that Matthew West song. I also love ANYTHING by Casting Crowns or Britt Nicole.
These are all excellent choices of songs! Some I love are FM Static’s song, “Take Me As I Am,” Taylor Swift’s song “Keep Your Eyes Open,” any song by Anthem Lights or Everfound. Praise be to God for helping us get out of sticky situations time and time again!
i love all of these songs!!!! 😀 i grew up listening to Christian and country music. Music and God are my world 🙂
Lecrae!! I especially love his song “Take Me As I Am”. :3
I absolutely LOVE casting crowns!!! One new song of theirs I particularly like is “Jesus, Friend of Sinners.” I used to struggle with a hypocrisy problem, and this beautiful song was my cry to the Lord to rid me of my pride and prejudices and look up to Him. “Oh Jesus Friend of Sinners, Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers…Oh Jesus Friend of Sinners, break our heart for what breaks Yours.” and God, in his grace and mercy answered my prayer, and gave me a love that I never knew I had in me to give.
Wow…thanks so much for sharing that with us. I love, love, love that!
Anytime! I like to share my testimony with people because it shows that God even forgives the Pharisees who plotted to kill him, if they repent and turn from their ways.
I love Casting Corwns and that is one of my favorite songs! That Matthew West one is awesome too!

I absolutely love “who am i” – i have loved it for a long time and i still do!!
My friends’ brother died last year and he lived by the song Don’t Waste Your Life, I remember him whenever I hear that song…
I listen to “Who Am I” soooo much :3 I also love “God’s Not Dead” by Newsboys, and “Word of God Speak” by mercyme. I stopped when I heard that song, and today, I finally FULLY received Jesus into my heart (I’m Christian, and i pray at times), but I cried my heart out in my closet today. I was sobbing soo much because God finally touched my heart. And the only song I could sing was Word of God Speak, because I desperately wanted God, and I was literally sobbing :O
Eyes open is a good song too. I really like carrie underwood too, apart from these.
Anything by Switchfoot makes me go crazy happy!!!!!!
