5 Encouraging Songs to Get You Through the Week

Hey girls! I think one thing many of us can agree on is that music is a wonderful, beautiful thing. It can get us through those tough times and encourage us to face the road ahead. It’s funny how whenever times get tough, God often puts that perfect song on the radio right when He knows I need to hear it!

Here are five songs that really get me through the week when things aren’t going my way and I need to be reminded that God’s got my back.

1. “Through All of It” by Colton Dixon

Who doesn’t love a good Colton Dixon tune?! Not only does this one have a great sound, but the message is incredible. The song talks about how through the good and bad, God is with us through it all. Through the bad breakups, the stressful times at school and the fights we have with friends, He is there through all of it. Even when it feels like He’s not, He has never left us, and He never will.

2. “Hope in Front of Me” by Danny Gokey

Another good one when the days seem endless. This song is a great reminder that thanks to God, there is always hope in front of us. When your world is spinning out of control, God is right there walking through it with you. His love is there to rescue you. Thanks to His love, we can be assured that no matter what, we will make it through. There will always be a light at the end of the tunnel.

3. “How Can It Be” by Lauren Daigle

This is such an encouraging song for so many reasons. It really captures the idea that God’s love knows no bounds. Lauren says it so well: “Afraid I’ve let you down, inside I doubt that you still love me, but in your eyes there’s only grace now.” These lyrics really capture the idea that no matter what we do, and how awful and dirty we might feel, God still loves us. No matter what we do, there is only grace in His eyes. No hatred or loathing, just grace.

4. “Because He Lives” by Matt Maher

This song is a great reminder of what Jesus did for us. It reminds us of the power His death on the cross has. Because He died, we are able to live. Because we live, we can face tomorrow. He was sinless, and died for us to cover the cost of our sins. It’s really a beautiful thing, and an amazing reminder of the love God has for us and the sacrifice Jesus made.

5. “The Broken Beautiful” by Ellie Holcomb

It’s definitely not uncommon to spend a lot of your teenage years not loving everything about yourself. That’s something that many girls struggle with. Ellie Holcomb hits the nail on the head in “The Broken Beautiful” when she talks about how God can take our messes and brokenness, and use it for His glory and make it beautiful.

What are YOUR “go-to” songs when you need to feel encouraged?

I love Ellie Holcomb! She was the main musician at the Younglife camp I was at last summer so I was able to spend a week with her, hearing her story and listening to her music. I had the chance to talk to her for awhile with one of my friends one day. She was so sweet, down to earth, and you could tell she was genuinely interested in what me and my friend had to say! I recommend any song by her and her husband’s band, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors!

Hope in Front of Me is one that I DEFINITELY love to listen to when I’m down/discouraged. I also am appreciating “Where I Am Right Now” by Jared Anderson.
“Beautiful, Beautiful” by Francesca Batistelli reminds me that God can make something beautiful out of my mess.
And “Steady My Heart” and “I am Not Alone” by Kari Jobe.
