5 for $5: Must-Have Drugstore Beauty Products That Only Cost $5!

Not everything of quality has to cost a lot. There are plenty of really great beauty products just waiting at your local drugstore for less than a grande Pumpkin Spice Latte! These are my top five favorite tried-and-true, budget-friendly beauty products. Need to cure dry lips, remove stubborn makeup quickly, grow longer hair, strengthen your nails, or a moisturizer that lasts? This list is for you! I love them so much and have used them for so many years I can hardly remember how I even learned about most of them. Check ’em out!

Aquaphor Lip Repair – Sometime during high school, I overused lip gloss to the point where my lips no longer have the ability to moisturize themselves now. Sad, I know! It seems like I’ve tried every variety of ChapStick and petroleum product, some super expensive and some not—and Aquaphor is the winner! It goes on smooth, and clear, it’s odorless and it lasts forever. I use it in the dry winter months and pretty much all day, every day. A little goes a long way and it provides instant, refreshing lip moisture.

Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes – I started using these during a camping trip where we didn’t have running water. I’ve been shocked at how great they are at removing makeup. Sometimes I work on-camera where we use GOBS of waterproof makeup, including foundation and false eyelashes. These towelettes wipe it all right off! You can also use them on the go, which is super convenient.

TRESemmé Split Remedy Leave-In Conditioning Spray – My hair used to be pretty thin and is still very fine. I started using this after every shower and my hair literally doubled in thickness because it stopped breaking so much. What I LOVE is that it’s a quick spray and comb-through so there’s no getting your hands messy. It also doesn’t make your hair oily like some leave-in conditioners. When using it, I focus mostly on spritzing the ends and have been so impressed with the results.

Sally Hansen Nail Treatment Triple Strong – There are tons of nail strengthening products out there. This one is the first one I ever used, and even though I’ve tried many more, it’s still my go-to. Not only does it make your nails grow longer and stronger, but it dries really quickly. It looks nice on its own or as a base coat under a color. Everyone that I let borrow it immediately goes and buys their own bottle after trying it out!

Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Lotion – I’m actually not a huge fan of lotion. It’s goopy and oily, and most of the time I don’t want to smell like food or flowers. But it’s necessary if you have ashy or dry skin. This is the perfect mix of moisture and thickness. Some lotions feel like they stay oily or wet forever. This one goes on smooth and dries relatively fast, and my skin is moisturized without feeling like I have any lotion on. It’s odorless for the most part, and once I use it on an area, I never have to reapply until after I shower again.

Hey just a caution everyone, I know sometimes we want inexpensive products, but please try to look for cruelty-free ones when you shop! Is it really worth the torture and pain a rabbit or guinea pig had to go through(even though there are other more humane ways to test things) just so you can have lotion or shampoo?

Thank you for sharing this option. I switched to cruelty free makeup/skincare this summer after stumbling upon an article about it. Cruelty free isn’t the easiest or the cheapest but you can save so many animals. It really does make a difference when you do NOT use the makeup brands that test (Covergirl,Revlon,Almay and more). Please read the articles below posted my carefreeLilly. A company called Lush sells all cruelty free skincare and has some great resources for learning more about animal testing (it explains a lot but does NOT include photos)

YES! Thank you for posting this, I always try to stay away from things that don’t explicitly say not tested on animals.
