9-Year-Old Boy Freed by Kidnapper After Singing Gospel Song

Ladies, I have such an amazing story to share with you. It’s a true story about a young boy who reached out to God in a moment of terror.

Nine-year-old Willie Myrick (he’s now ten) was abducted right outside his home in Atlanta, Ga. After Willie sang the gospel song “Every Praise” over and over for three hours straight, the kidnapper got angry and let him go.

Check out the full story below:

What an amazing boy! So strong and brave and full of faith. He cried out to God in his song, and God took care of him. What a fantastic reminder that we should always call out to God in times of need.

There’s also an underlying question that I can’t help pondering since I first heard this story. Was God also talking to the kidnapper through Willie’s song? It seems evident that the man was affected by it. Willie sang for hours, ignoring the man’s threats and demands for him to be quiet, and this angered the man more, but still he didn’t hurt the boy. Instead, he stopped the car and told him to get out!

I don’t know the story of the kidnapper, only that of this brave little boy. But I do pray that this man heard God speak to him, and that his heart softened in that moment and that is why he let the boy go. I also pray that this man was and still is deeply affected by what happened that day, and that he repents of his sins and turns to God. That would make an amazing story even more miraculous, don’t you think?

If you’ve never heard the song “Every Praise” by Hezekiah Walker, or if you’re a great fan and want to hear it again, check out the video below! I love it!

So, what do you think? Do you think that maybe God was speaking to the kidnapper as well as saving Willie?

    1. Hahaha a couple months ago, after watching Jack the Giant Slayer, I had a (very weird) dream that giants came, and for some reason we were at church in my dream (we being me and all my friends, mostly ones from church), and I was going around telling everyone to sing the worship song “Holy Spirit”…..Anywho, this just made me think of that. xD

I’ve always kind of thought that if I got kidnapped or something, then assuming I wasn’t shocked in to silence, I would start singing a song (probably “Holy Spirit” or “Our God”). 🙂 Funny (and awesome) that something like that actually happened!

    2. That’s such a wonderful story. I’m so glad that child is alright. That is a sign that god really does look after and protect his believers. He will always be here for us in times of trouble.

    3. This is amazing! God really moves in a mysterious way! For me this is a miracle! God is really amazing! This is a proof that God do listen to our prayers, praises, etc. That boy’s faith is really strong! I pray that he continues to share how amazing God is!

    4. I do think that God was speaking to the kidnapper as well as trying to save that young boy. They say he was annoyed, maybe something happened in his life that and he strayed away from God and didn’t want to hear that song. Just a thought.
