A ‘Faithful’ Celebrity I’m Loving: Carrie Underwood!

Carrie Underwood is the epitome of class, beauty, and integrity. She’s handled the pressures of fame wonderfully, is a positive role model to people, and better yet- a proud Christian. She doesn’t let Hollywood conform her, and isn’t afraid to speak up about her faith in God. She shines not only because of her voice, but from her authenticity to who she really is as well. Her hit song “Jesus Take the Wheel” is about trusting in God when you’re life is in trouble and when you’re afraid. The fact she hasn’t sold out her values in order to ‘shock’ her fans by using the F word and singing about sex acts only makes her more precious. Check out this beautiful single, it’s incredibly moving and expresses her love for God.

Hey Nicole, thanks for this wonderful article!!!

by the way, have you watched Carrie’s performance of How Great Thou Art? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLLMzr3PFgk <— April 22, 2011 (Good Friday)

^^ that video, for the first time made me cry! I'm so proud because she sang this in Las Vegas aka "sin city", kinda ironic isn't it? and she's not afraid to sing this song on national tv, she's not scared of what people will say to her since this is a gospel song… I love her integrity, and it really shows that she loves Jesus, and not afraid to speak up about her beliefs 🙂

What about the song “Last Name”, in which Carrie openly says “last night I met a guy on the dance floor and I let him call me baby”. She goes on to say that she got drunk and married to a guy she barely knew. In “Cowboy Casanova”, she says “he’s like a curse, he’s like a drug, you get addicted to his love, you wanna get out but he’s holding you down, ‘cause you can’t live without one more touch”. When she talks about his “touch” it’s obvious what kind of touch it is, and it’s not a pure one. It’s sad to see so many “Christian” singers make it seem like it’s okay to sing about alcohol and sexual impurity. I would encourage you to thoroughly investigate before you blog about a “faithful” celebrity.

Thank you Elizabeth for bringing this to my attention- I wasn’t aware that she was singing about these things! I believe overall though she is still a good influence in the media. I will write about an inspirational Christian in the media asap!

Too bad Sara Evans don’t like that song coming from a Christian. Carrie is a blessing. And so is her hubby Mike Fisher 🙂
