All Sons & Daughters, “Reason to Sing”

This week I decided to cover a song by a folk acoustic worship band called All Sons & Daughters. The band comprises Leslie Jordan on guitar and David Leonard on piano. They are both extremely talented, and I love their harmonies.

The song “Reason to Sing” is a song of hope, an honest song that asks if God is still who He says He is and if He is still holding the world in His hands. It also talks about the fear of letting go, waiting and struggle. We all go through difficult times, but the important thing is to remember that God IS who He says He is. There will be a victory, a lesson, a story or something will come out of the hard times.

I believe this song is similar to the way David wrote the Psalms. It is very transparent and is a song of simply wanting to know that God is still there, singing over us. I hope you enjoy both the cover and the live video! I learned a simple version on the guitar and sing bits of the song from the beginning to the chorus and bridge.
