I agree with you on the whole idea of girls giving them up easily to the guys. This is just wrong. Period. So, good call. Not sure about the “Cosmo has to be stopped” thing, partially becauseI don’t read it.
she buys them to find evidence of all the explicit stuff so she can prove to everyone just how bad it is 🙂 i hate that she has to support them, but she has to.
I agree completely! Cosmo is a terrible magazine! I looked through it only once because my 14 year old cousin had an issue of it laying in our grandparents backseat of their car. It was so sexually explicit I couldn’t believe it! Right after I found the first article on sex I immediately closed it up and threw it on the ground!
Hello! These videos are very inspiring, I love watching them. I had an idea- The internet is of course one of the top ways of communication, and I think it would be interesting if you did a video over what is exposed on this magazines website! Its easier for girls to access, free, and contains more information than the magazines, with new info added daily. Just an idea. Please respond! 🙂
Hey Bailee! Thanks for the suggestion, and I’m so glad you watch the videos. I’m making another one tonight! 🙂 Do you mean posting my video on Cosmopolitan’s actual website? I don’t think I can do that but I wish I could! or what other website are you talking about?
i think you’re not giving women, including young girls, enough credit to think for themselves. just because cosmo gives sex tips doesn’t necisarily mean that girls have to use them. and in your may video you say that it says cosmo says you’re worthless if you don’t give guys these “tips” but from some of what you said i think you think that girls are worthless if they do. it isn’t realistic to assume that everyone can wait ’til marriage. i don’t know your situation but i can assume that you haven’t either. and a woman’s worth is never based on what she does in bed, whether she has tons of sex or none at all. we have much more to offer to the world to put this much pressure on sex, either way.
Hi Nicole. What I ment was, talk about the material actually featured on cosmos website. Like, a video all about what articles are on their website, and what they discuss on there would be really cool.
That’s sad that peeps would talk about stuff so pereverted. Not all men are crude and selfish. And if a guy isn’t treating you like a diamond, you need to stop seeing him.
You’re right girls give it up to guys. This is the 21st century. We can have sex just as often as guys. I do it. I love sex and as a 22 year old woman I believe we should be allowed to do what we want without being looked down upon! Praise Cosmo for giving me tips on pleasing my multiple partners.
Hey Renee- Well first of all you are 22 and free to do as you want, but you don’t find something a little wrong with telling girls to have anal sex in order to keep a man? If you’re reading Cosmo for advice on how to be a prostitute and you do these freaky sex acts with multiple people, good luck finding a real man who actually cares about you.
Okay, I agree with your point entirely! I think that Cosmo can set a very bad example for girls and teach them horrible values. However, I also think that parents and girls do have to have some judgement on what 13, 14 year old girls are reading. There is material in the media that is totally acceptable for that age group, but that would be very inappropriate for girls who are 8 or 10. I totally agree that Cosmo encourages bad values for everyone because it is appealing due to its popularity. I just think that there is some consumer responsibility involved. So I like that you’re trying to get people to stop buying it! That’s a great way to tell them that what they are saying is wrong.
Maybe it’s just me but I don’t see the actual “sex-ness” of cosmo to be wrong. I disagree with some of the lessons that they teach women, like promoting one night stands and quickie no-strings hook-ups. But the sex stuff isn’t that bad. It’s explicit, yes, but that is why it’s a WOMEN’s magazine
I hate it when fellow Christians try to perpetrate sex as wrong. It isn’t. Not to God, and it shouldn’t be to us. That why so many people that save themselves for marriage have crappy sex live: People convincing them that boring missionary is the only way to go. God gave sex as a gift for those that are MARRIED. Therefore, shouldn’t they be able to enjoy it?
If it’s with your husband, and you both are okay with it, why not try different sex moves?
The main restriction God put on sex is that it be heterosexual and that it be within the sanctity of marriage, after that, having fun, wild, “kinky” sex isn’t wrong.
Nicole, I’d love for you to keep distinguishing what is REALLY wrong with Cosmo; promoting no-strings-attached relationships and a decline in self respect. But i’d hate for your righteous message against the ills that Cosmo is instilling in women to result in young girls being afraid or repulsed by sex, thus ruining their intimate lives with their husbands in the future…
I’m not saying women shouldn’t have sex with their husbands at all. I’m saying that it should be sold in a plastic bag so only 18 years and older can purchase the magazine. It’s not right that 12 year olds have access to it.
Cosmo is sick, I’ve been reading the book I Kissed Dating Goodbye, and it’s about the spirituality side of relationships. I’m completely against Cosmo, it’s the opposite of this book.
It is so sickening to know that 13, 14, and 15-year-olds (even younger and older) are reading this. I’m 17 and I am waiting until marriage to have sex. But it so sad to know that kids over at the junior high across the parking lot are already having sex. They’re babies! And reading crap like this only reinforces that they are making the “right” decision. Thank you for all of the work that you are doing. And I signed your petition already!
thank you SO much Victoria! Did you write an Anti Cosmo letter? If you haven’t, can you write one and address it to “Mr. Leibowitz” and explain why you believe it should be sold in a plastic bag to protect young kids? If you want to, please email it to me at theanticosmomission@gmail.com. I would be SO appreciative!!
What ever happened to guys taking care of their girls? What happened to sex being about love and closeness? I used to think it was ok for a guy to treat me like dirt. I let my first love walk all over me. I cried myself to sleep everynight and he enjoyed it. Then my bff from 3 years ago came along and he showed me how I deserved to b treated and we fell for each other. He held me while I cried over the other guy, he made me feel beautiful and important. He actually took the time to hold my hand and talk and promised to never let anything hurt me. He never even mentioned sex. Just goes to show, there are good guys out there. Girls should have enough respect to wait for a guy good enough to treat them well without expecting sex in return. We’re worth more than that!!

Yeah! Look at that cover ick.
You go girl! Thanks for using your voice. Yes, young girls are definitely affected by the media. I’m joining your fight!
totally agree with what you’re doing. thanks.
True that Nicole. Did u buy the magazine? I hope not b/c then its irony.

I think this is the devil’s plan to corrupt young girls. If Cosmo decides to be this trashy, then adults should read it only.

That’s a good idea Baillee- I’ll do that in a future video to come soon!
