April Book Club: “The New Lady in Waiting”

Happy Easter, my sweet Book Club ladies!

For the month of April, our Project Inspired Book Club is back (hooray!), and I think the book we’re going to read together is perfect for this Easter season. It’s called The New Lady in Waiting by Jackie Kendall with Debby Jones, and it takes a look at the character qualities a princess of the King of Kings (that’s you, and me too!) should develop during her single days and beyond.

What I love about this book is that it focuses on what we girls should be doing to become strong women who are fulfilling their God-given destiny rather than zeroing in on what we should not be doing. I think that’s a great message, because if you concentrate on becoming the woman God created you to be, you won’t have to count on a guy to make you feel beautiful, secure, or loved. Then, when God leads you to the right man (like He led me to my wonderful Eric), it will be the icing on the cake of the awesome life He has already given you!

The New Lady in Waiting is an updated version of the book Jackie Kendall originally published more than 20 years ago. The language and examples have been modernized to fit us as women today, but the principles remain the same. The authors outline 10 character qualities that “royal” women of God should aspire to develop, like diligence, faith and devotion.

The book goes way beyond the traditional message of waiting to have sex and talks about all the ways a woman should surrender her life to the Lord so that He can give her the real desires of her heart. One sentence in the Introduction says it all: “Lady in Waiting is not about finding the right man, but being the right woman.”

Isn’t that what we all want to be? For God and for that special man He has planned for us?

I hope with all my heart that this Easter is the most blessed and happy Easter season you have ever experienced as you fall more and more in love with Jesus. Remember, sweet ladies in waiting, He is the one who will never leave you or forsake you.

Please join me in reading The New Lady in Waiting this month, and post your best selfie of you with this great book. You can buy it at your local Christian bookstore, or order it here. You’ll be so glad you did.

Love to each and every one of my precious girls,

    Nicole

    1. i would love it so much if you did an elizabeth george book for the book club, they’re full of Godly advice and Bible Study and super applicable to life tips! To be more specific “A young woman who reflects the heart of jesus” or “a young womans guide to making right choices” are great ones. plus, they are affordable, $11 or $12 each, best purchase ever!
