Are You a Light in the Darkness?
Written by Christi Given | March 9, 2012
Do you lead others by being a good influence, or do they lead you? Bad company corrupts good character. Do you try to influence those around you but fall into temptation?
God wants you to be a light, but read what the Lord says about the light and darkness:
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14).
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them (Ephesians 5:11).
If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth (1 John 1:6).
God’s word is the truth and it guides us. We need to be aware of those who are influencing us. If someone rejects Christ, or is not yet ready to receive the Lord, you can still pray for them and show them love, but it doesn’t mean you have to partake in what they are doing, such as going to parties with them.
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted (Galatians 6:1).
If you find yourself in tempting situations, ask God where He wants you. Sometimes we need to step back and pray for the people in our lives. If we are ministering or sharing the Lord, we can do so by example and by sharing the love of Christ. The Bible says be in the world and not of the world.
Be salt and light. You may ask, what does that mean? Well, it means sometimes you have to say “no” to the popular event or party. Sometimes you have to tell those around you “no” to watching a particular film if it doesn’t help you in your walk with the Lord or if it doesn’t glorify God.
It may be unpopular or you may feel it isn’t the “cool” way, but in the end it will pay off! You are to be SET apart! You are different as a child of God and that will shine!!
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it (Matthew 5:17).
The “popular” road is EASIER…it IS hard to stand up for what is right sometimes. But if it honors God, then it is good and it will pay off. God will reward you for honoring Him.
PI girls, are there any prayer requests you have? Post them here.
