Written by T.M. Gaouette | October 10, 2012
Dearest PI ladies, I have fantastic news for all you aspiring songwriters: You can put your songwriting talents to the test by entering the Create Songwriter Search!
The Create Songwriter Search is a contest for aspiring songwriters 13 years of age and older. If you are under 18, you will need permission from your parents. The contest is sponsored by Today’s Christian Music and CCM Magazine, and it’s currently accepting song submissions.
Prizes include being mentored by Grammy award-winning songwriter Laura Story, a meeting with major Christian publishers and a co-writing session. You also win a 3-month writing development deal, during which you’ll be paid $500 each month. For more details on the prizes, visit Createsongwriter.com.
Judges include Merge PR founders Stacie Vining and Lori Mahon, who have worked with such media outlets as Gospel Music Channel, Seventeen, Billboard, Fox News, Fox & Friends, People magazine and Parents magazine; Dove Award-winning songwriter, music producer and founder of Music for the Soul Steve Siler; Editor of Gospel Today magazine and owner of GospelPundit.com EJ Gaines; and long-time music journalist, CCM writer and Wonderment Entertainment founder Grace Aspinwall. These are just some of the judges.
I’m so excited to be informing you girls of this great opportunity. Music is so influential. We’ve discussed its impact here on Project Inspired many times. And even though we’re seeing so many veteran and up-and-coming musicians who are inspiring and motivating while sharing God’s Word, I still believe there’s so much room for more. How amazing it would be if much of the negative secular music that promotes sex and violence could be saturated by positive music that glorifies God, and is really good!
Ladies, this is such a great opportunity to showcase your talents.
If you are interested in this opportunity, know that there are certain rules, as with all contests. So make sure you familiarize yourself with them before submitting your song. You should also check out the FAQs on the site. There also is a submission fee.
Your entry must be received by December 1, 2012 to meet the final deadline. But there’s also an option for an early deadline, which saves you some money. The winner of the Create Songwriter Search will be announced by December 31, 2012.
So ladies, get out your songbooks, read and finalize your best work, and visit Createsongwriter.com for details and instructions.
For all you ladies who decide to enter this contest, I pray you receive God’s blessing!
PI girls, do you like writing songs? Are you planning on entering this contest?
