August Book Club: “So Long Insecurity”
Written by Nicole | August 7, 2013
Hi to all my sweet summertime girls!
I can’t believe that summer is almost gone, and it’s time for another school year to start. It’s a time for changes, and I’ve certainly had a big change in my life this summer. I am now Mommy to my beautiful boy, Elijah Benjamin, and I couldn’t be happier! What changes are you looking forward to as summer ends?
Whatever is coming up for you, it’s time to throw away all those insecurities and walk forward into your school, job, church and everywhere else with head held high – confident that God has a purpose and a plan for your life. That’s why I love our August Book Club selection, So Long Insecurity by Beth Moore. PI Girls, you have to read this book with me!
It looks like a fashion magazine, and it tackles tough subjects like mean girls, popularity, and guys in a fun way with quizzes, short stories of women in the Bible, Bible verses “pinned” to fun graphics, interviews with teen girls, and tons more. There’s even a website, solonginsecurity.com, that you can check out.
Of all the Book Club picks, So Long Insecurity is the book we’ve read so far that best captures the true spirit of PI and my heart for all you gorgeous girls. In fact, most of the words in this book are echoes of what you’ll find throughout the Project Inspired blog posts, comments, and your very own pictures and postings. I am so proud that my PI girls and I look to God and encourage each other when we struggle with insecurity – because we all do. But God wants us to remember how valued we are to Him, how we are made in His image – and that’s true beauty!
So grab a copy of So Long Insecurity by Beth Moore now and read along with me and other PI girls all this month. Then we’ll talk about it in one of my Live Chats. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. If you can’t find it at your local Christian bookstore, you can order So Long Insecurity here. Happy reading, and I’ll be praying you have a great start to your new school year.
