When it comes to a quick beauty upgrade, nothing beats mascara. When you’re too young for or uninterested in the million-step process of foundation, powder, blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, etc., you can always throw on a coat or two of mascara and change your entire face. Why? It simply opens your eyes and gives you some boldness and definition right where people look. Your whole face looks brighter!
Of course, there are many mascaras on the market and they all help achieve different results. The best thing to do is to experiment with different options to get the best effect for your eyelashes. You know we think you’re beautiful as you are, but when you do decide to wear some mascara, here are five of our favorites for you to try!
CoverGirl is a brand known and respected for their inexpensive and time tested beauty products. Their Clumps Be Gone: CoverGirl LashBlast Clump Crusher mascara provides even coverage and a deep black shade. (Drugstore.com, $7)
Looking to add a little sparkle to your lashes? While we can’t exactly recommend L’Oreal’s Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara for the classroom or church, it’s an awesome choice for a night out with friends or a special event (prom, anyone?). (Walmart, $7)
If you have super thin lashes or just know that you like your mascara thick–like, really thick–then this is your pick! The Almay Intense i-Color Voluminizing Mascara also comes in a few colors, including purple and brown. (Soap.com, $8)
Maybe you don’t care so much about darkness or thickness. Is fullness your concern? Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara has a super thick round brush that hits all your lashes evenly and really pumps them out. (Drugstore.com, $7)
Mascara definitely ranges in price, and the while the four previous mascaras (all under $10) are awesome, if you’re willing and able to spend a bit more on an extraordinary tube, make it this one. It’s a classic favorite–Lancome Definicils. The iconic, award-winning lash formula provides the ultimate in lash separation and cleanness. (lancome-usa.com, $27)
Do you wear mascara? What brand? Are you loyal to one in particular, or do you like to switch it up? Which of our picks piqued your interest? Let us know in the comments below!
My aunt sells Avon so she gives me some mascara that she gets for “samples”. I like the curling mascara from Avon. I also really like the Avon mascara that you can change how much you put on the brush. I don’t remember what it’s called but I think it’s discontinued. I really want to try the sparkly mascara sometime! 🙂
I may have to try some of these. I usually only get the cheapest kid I see. I am relatively loyal to Elf and Covergirl but my loyalty can be swayed by price 😉 lol!
I’ve always used either Maybelline or L’Oreal. Currently I’m using Great Lash by Maybelline and although it isn’t my favorite, it does the job.
When shopping for mascara, I try to get the most mascara for the cheapest price. Of course it’d be way to time comsuming to look at all mascaras in the store, but I find that Maybelline’s Great Lash Lots of Lashes mascara is the best choice. I don’t like to spend too much on mascara, so I usually don’t buy any other brand.
I enjoy Christian Dior mascara. It’s so smooth 😀 Even though it is expensive that is my favorite kind. But I use different kinds when I can. I don’t use mascara that often only on sundays or when I’m meeting with friends or even when I am practicing make up techniques. But I try not to use make up that often. A good scripture I wrote on a paper in front of my make up case is
1 Peter 3:3-6
3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
That’s really cool I might have to steal your idea 🙂
Rimmel London Scandal Eyes is my favorite and very similar to Maybelline Mega Plush mascara. I’m going to try clump crusher because its the best one on the market right now! 🙂
I use Scandal Eyes as well. But not truly loyal to any specific brand.
Do you know of any brightly-colored mascaras? I know that we’re only supposed to enhance our face with makeup, but I love being a bit different, and so I’ve been wondering for a bit if there are any odd-colored mascaras out there? Something to make people take a second glance, but that’ll still coordinate with or even brighten my eye color somehow… like- an ice blue, bright pink, evergreen, or maybe pastel purple. I plan to go crazy with color this spring. 😀 I do like the idea of sparkly mascara for a dance or a night out with the gals. Where would that be available?
Oh, and I don’t plan to do anything like this for church. Just for hanging out everyday stuff.
Ice blue would be so cool! 🙂
Go to Sephora, they have tons of awesome colors!
Cool! Thanks so much!
There are so many great guides that recommend mascara colors that compliment your eye color (besides the regular black).
I have brown eyes, and I got so many compliments with blue mascara! You can hardly tell it’s blue in dark lighting/indoors, but in the sunlight my eyes just popped!
I wear mascara, but I am also in high school. Right now, I wear the cat eye stuff by maybaline. My only complaint with it is that the water proof version of it is not waterproof, so I have to remove it before swim practice. The clump crusher from Cover Girl has a similar brush.
The Rocket Volume by Maybelline is a really good mascara. It gives a ton of volume and length and is reather inexpensive 🙂
I can wear it in march on my bd! I think I am going to use cover girl or L’Oreal
I don’t really wear mascara–my eyelashes are naturally long & thick (or so I’ve been told). I’m more of an eyeliner girl myself. But I’ve heard that applying Vaseline on your lash lines makes your eyelashes grow longer & fuller. Just thought I’d share! 🙂
Ohh, i think i might try that. Cool idea, and if it works ill share it with friends!
I wear Maybelline the Rocket and its amazing especially on the bottom lashes.
I use many different brands, like mary kay, clinique, and elf! Right now i’m using a clinique eyeshadow that makes my eyelashes look bigger!
I’ve tried TONS of mascaras. I love mascara. The only one on this list I’ve tried though, is Almay i-color. I loved the purple and blue, but they tended to flake and get in my eyes a lot.
I currently use Falsies by Maybelline. It gives great volume and length, and it isn’t flaky. 🙂
Sparklie mascara? Yes please! ^^
I have the Maybelline mascara with sparkles and real diamonds in it. I love it though it doesn`t look shimmery on your eyelashes…
Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara! <3
My personal favorite is Maybelline’s Mega-Plush mascara because it is easy to remove after the end of the day, plus it makes your lashes really long and full. Me like!
My favorite is Lash Stiletto by Maybeline. Out of all the mascaras I’ve tried (it’s not a lot, but still), it makes my lashes look the longest. Sometimes I even get compliments on how long my lashes look. I’ll admit that it has a funny smell when you first put it on, but if you can get over that it’s great!
I use Maybelline Cat Eyes Mascara. It works tremendously to give you nice evenly long lashes to really dress up your look or you can apply lightly for a more natural look 🙂
I have been using CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume in Very Black. I like it a lot. It does a fabulous job at both volumizing and lenghthening.:) Actually it’s the first tube of mascara I’ve ever owned. I didn’t start wearing makeup until probably a year ago(used to barrow my mom’s from time to time). Even now, I only wear it to church or if I’m in the mood to try a new look. For a more casual look-going to the gym or errand running-I use Maybelline Great Lash. It looks more natural-less bold and dramatic. The Clumps Be Gone definitely piques my interest. I’ve never used that kind of curved brush before and clumps are such a common nuisance. 😛
I use badGal Lash by benefit.. It is amazing! Also its $19, SO expensive, but not that bad. I also have used Lash Injection by too faced… I have actually never used drugstore brand mascara.
I like Maybelline’s Falsies in the purple bottle
Ultra has a great one! Can you do a video about drawing on eyebrows?
I wear Bare Minereals mascara
I think mascara makes me look to dark.
Im using cat-eye mascara by Maybelline, but I also like to use full and soft by Maybelline as well, when I want a waterproof one. I also have recently reaaalllyyy liked Nature-luxe by Covergirl! They’re all great!
I’m loyal to CoverGirl and I actually just bought the new Clump Crusher mascara! I think I’m loyal to that brand b/c some of my fave celebrities are honorary CoverGirls, like Ellen DeGeneres and Taylor Swift.
I usually get whatever is cheapest. 🙂 I have mostly gotten Covergirl though. It will be fun to try some other ones too!
my favorite is Maybelline Falsies Mascara!! 🙂 it makes my lashes amazing really fast!! For higher end (which icant rly afford) i loveeee Lancome Hypnose mascara it’s AMAZING<333
I’ve never wore mascara. Mostly because my lashes are already super long! But these look like some great remmendations! 🙂
Lancôme is very amazing but expensive:/ another great brand is stilettos by mabelyne
i only use this really pretty and cheap($3-$5)mascara but it’s really good it’s called like GloGirls or something like that(it’s organic-no bad ingredients!)
I love clump crusher because it allows me to control how much mascara I want to put on. Plus, it has a good shade of brown (I can’t wear black mascara)
