Bible Study: God Calls You His Bride!

Church-Wedding-Aisle

PI Girls, did you know that God calls Jesus the Bridegroom and the Church the Bride?

There is an analogy of this great love that God has for His chosen people (Matthew 22). It is the greatest love story of all time that God sent Himself down in the form of man to die on a humble rugged cross for our wretched sin, so we would not pay the penalty of death! Jesus was the Son of Man, God in flesh (John 1), who was here on earth to show man God is alive and real and wants a PERSONAL relationship with you! Yes, you reading!

All this took place to fulfill what The Lord has said through the prophet. “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel—which means ‘God with us.'” (Matthew 1:22-23)
(Prophetic reference in Old Testament is Isaiah 7:14)

God loves us so much that He sent the ULTIMATE sacrifice, the lamb (Jesus), who was slain for you and me. Why did God do this? Because the wages of sin is death, and man cannot be before a Holy God with sin and blemish. So God wipes out our sin with His own Holy Blood from the lamb He sent to sacrifice on the cross. Sacrifices go back to the Old Testament where the Jews had to sacrifice an animal for the forgiveness of sins. There is no life without blood (Hebrews 9:22). Even now, your entire body has blood pumping to your heart; without it, you would die, right?

Why is there power in the blood of Jesus? Because Jesus’ blood is Holy, because He came from the Father, amen?

When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not part of His creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves, but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. (Hebrews 9:11-12)
(Read of all Hebrews 9 for further study)

Jesus’ earthly Father was Joseph, but the Holy Spirit conceived in Mary’s womb, and that is why the blood of Jesus is Holy and has the power to cover the sins of the world. Why? Because His blood was Holy. (Jesus = Immanuel = God with US.)

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about; His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but BEFORE they came together, she was found with child through the HOLY SPIRIT. (Matthew 1:18)

The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How MUCH MORE, then will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that He has died as a ransom to set us free from the sins committed under the first covenant. (Hebrews 9:14-15)

So what about this love I speak of? Do you realize that God is jealous for you and pursues you and tries to have fellowship with you? He is a personal God who wants you to pray and talk to Him. He wants you to read His Word so you may have an abundant, full, blessed life (John 10:10).

If you want to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, confess and believe in your heart the Lord died on the cross, rose on the third day from the grave defeating death, and you shall be saved (Romans 10). All it takes to be saved is to believe and to live as though Jesus is the King of your life, lifestyle and Lord of all. Yes, it is hard, but you can do it with prayer, the Word and the Holy Spirit.

The Kingdom of heaven is like a King who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come. (Matthew 22:2-3)

Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you can find. So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall was filled with guests. (Matthew 22:8-10)

You see, PI Girls, everyone is invited to be with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in heaven, but some choose to decline the invitation. It is puzzling when we think, “Why would someone say no to a gift or an invitation?” This is how the Kingdom of God is—everyone is invited to the greatest party of all, but not everyone wants to come or chooses to go.

You are also called His beloved, and the church is called the Bride of Christ, so we understand the depth of this deep love that God has for us.

Revelation 19:7 says, “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.”

We are the bride God is coming for, his beloved, and we must be ready for the supper of the lamb…let us clothe ourselves in white for the greatest wedding supper of all with our King!

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 11:2, “For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present [you as] a chaste virgin to Christ.” This means we don’t sin (cheat in a way, on God), but rather we are faithful in our walk to Him, amen?

PI Girls, did you know that God calls the church His Bride? If so, do you know any verses to back this up? Comment below! Love you all!

I think it’s especially important to remember that God keeps loving his bride even when she — when we — really screw up. Even when our lives get dark, and messy. Even when we do things we’re ashamed to even think about. Even when we think we’d get kicked right out of church.

God loved Israel all through the old testament, even when his people left him, and left him, and left him again, and worshipped other gods, and left him again, and again. Even when his people screwed up over, and over, and over, God still loved them. Still called them beloved.

No matter how big you think you screwed up, know that God loves you more. His grace is bigger. Bigger than your darkest thought, bigger than your nastiest comment, bigger than your most terrifying fears. Our God conquers ALL things. He’s not standing in front of you, waiting patiently, like, “C’mon, become a good christian already! Get to it! Get it done!” He’s standing next to you, bleeding and aching with you, saying “It is finished.”

That thing you don’t thing God can forgive? He already has.

That shame that you think is too dark? God’s light will brush it right away.
