Book Club: More “Heaven Is for Real” Discussion Questions!

Girls, have you finished reading Heaven Is for Real? I can’t wait to talk about it in my live chat today! Before we discuss the book, here are some questions for us to think about!

  1. Have you ever had a group of people praying for you or someone you love in an emergency situation? What did that feel like? What was the outcome? How does prayer make a difference?
  2. When has your faith been tested, like Pastor Todd’s was when he said he felt like the biblical character Job. What do you do when you feel like everything is going wrong?
  3. What makes this book believable? How does Colton’s age when all this happened affect the story? Do you think this could have been made up? Why or why not?

Comment with your answers or any questions you have below! And I’ll see you at 4 PM PST for my live discussion of the book!

    1. I can’t say I’ve ever been in a life or death emergency situation but I’ve prayed for others during such a time and must say that it really does make a difference. Sure we may want the outcome to be different so we ask God for healing or strength, but I think it’s really important that we ask God for peace for the families/friends involved as well, regardless of the outcome.
    2. I’ve been undergoing a lot of medical issues lately, had my best friend move to another state, and had some trouble with school. When everything is going wrong I know that I SHOULD be praying about it and casting my anxieties upon God, but in reality I have a hard time doing that in the moment and try to take care of my problems myself. I’ve really been working on it though and it’s something I hope to change!
    3. I think Heaven is For Real is a good story that makes christians aware that Heaven is in fact real, but I don’t think it really happened. That’s just my own personal opinion. 🙂 My pastor has done sermons on it, and I myself have done some research online about the book. I don’t think ALL of it was fake, but i think some parts were embellished to make it sound more amazing than it really was. Read this article if you get a chance. This is just one of many that I have found.

    1. My aunty was diagnosed with cancer and was told she had a slim chance of survival. Our family, church, friends all came together in agreement in prayer. It was a feeling that we all try our best to avoid, seeing someone you love pass away. But… The more we prayed and believed and spoke life, the more God worked. for we knew that without faith it is impossible to please God. Today at this very moment, my aunty is Alive! She survived and is a 100% cancer free!!

    2. Whenever my Faith is tested, although I know that God is trying to mend me and build me up, somehow Im always filled with doubt. It was a problem I struggled with. when things are going south I tend to forget that god is still in control. but with constant fasting and prayer, God has helped overcome my fears, my doubts and learn to trust him through the storms knowing that the testing of my faith develops perseverance.(James 1:3)

    3. I believe that God reveals himself to whomever He chooses. God is no respecter of age, sex, race or whatever we lable ourselves out to be. I believe this story because I believe Heaven is real, and so is Hell. This is a great example that God shows us how he can use anybody that is available to his will. He says Let noone look down on you because are young, but be an example for the belivers.( 1 Tim 4:12)

Well,I didin’t read the book, but I can still answer the first two questions.

1.When someone prays for you in an emergency situation. It makes you feel a lot better and you know God has got it in control. 🙂

2.When everything goes wrong,I get fustrated, then,I ask God to fix my problems like He said He would!!!

    1. Yes. Pretty much my whole church was praying for me in a very similar situation. I was diagnosed with appendicitis, and my dad sent out a prayer request. All those people were praying for me! It was amazing! And the doctors, in spite of saying they were 99% sure it was appendicitis, were wrong. How cool is that?

    2. Yes, a while ago, it seemed like everything in our house was breaking down.

    3. Well, I do think it could have been made up. But I mean, I’ve seen interviews of the little boy, and he said the exact same thing as the book said, so it seems really realistic.
