Hi Project Inspired book clubbers!
In October we are going to have some reading fun! If you haven’t already heard, our reading selection of the month is…drum roll, please…Waiting for Mr. Right!
Waiting for Mr. Right is the first novel in a three-book “Mr. Right” series by Lisa Raftery and Barbara Precourt. It’s about a college freshman named Julia who grew up in a Christian home and now puts her faith to the test as she dreams of meeting her very own Prince Charming. I know from all the relationships posts on Project Inspired that most of you do, too. And I have to admit, it felt like I waited forever (and waded through a few frogs) before I finally met my King (Jesus) and fell in love with my very own prince (my husband Eric). So don’t worry, girls–in God’s perfect timing, your fairy tale life will unfold!
In the meantime, we can laugh together and maybe even cry a little as we relate to the trials and troubles Julia experiences when she gets impatient and gives her heart to Mr. Wrong instead of Mr. Right. It all starts when she heads off to college and decides to let her parents think she is living in a dorm–when she actually moves into a sorority house. That little lie and a few other secrets soon lead Julia way off the right path.
Okay, I won’t tell you any more, because I want you to read this month’s book and find out what happens for yourself. If you haven’t gotten your copy of Waiting for Mr. Right yet, you can order it here, or pick it up at your local Christian bookstore.
We introduced our book club back in August, and I hope you enjoyed reading I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist, by Norman Geisler and Frank Turek. It is one of the best books I’ve read explaining the argument for Christianity to nonbelievers and debunking atheists’ beliefs. We just wrapped up September’s book, Pilgrim’s Progress, and although I’ve read this classic before, I got a lot out of following Christian’s journey once again to the Celestial City. It is truly one of my favorite books.
We want everyone to join us in our monthly Book Club, so starting in October we’ll be posting questions and comments in the forum each week, and you can too! We’ll also post an interview with one of the authors, so you can get some exclusive insights into the story and why the authors wanted to write these books. Then we’ll wrap up at the end of the month in my Live Video Chat, where I’ll answer some of your questions about the book and tell you what I thought about Julia, her decisions, and how they relate to our lives today. Even though this month’s selection is fiction, the lessons Julia learns are important ones for all of us.
So join us in reading Waiting for Mr. Right. Ready, set …read!
Love to all my gorgeous girls,
Nicole
