Boys Look Up to Celebrities Just As Much As Girls! By PI Girl, Alexa

Boys need to be modest in a time like this. Boys look at celebrities just as much as girls! They see how many girls love Justin Bieber or One Direction and think, “I have to look like that to get attention from girls.” I’m not saying they always dress immodest, but there are some things that need to be considered.

For people in my school and maybe yours too, the skinny jeans and baggy tank top fad is in (for both boys and girls)! Some people will wonder, “What’s wrong with that?” Well, think about it. It shows off a boy’s figure just as much as a girl’s, and even sometimes shows their boxers. Those baggy tank tops show off a boy’s chest. Girls look at that, and they become attracted.

This doesn’t mean your appearance doesn’t matter, because it does. This just means that you shouldn’t be wearing anything that causes anyone to be lustful and sin! God even warns us to stay away from people like that!

Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God (1 Corinthians 10:32).

I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them (Romans 16:17).

There have been times when I have slipped up and have seen a guy with revealing clothes and I would say, “Wow, he’s hot,” even though deep down in my head I knew I shouldn’t be attracted to him for his muscles.

Even when you are in a relationship, it is wrong to wear revealing clothes. That will cause your significant other to sin too! He/she will want to do things to you that he/she shouldn’t even be thinking about until after marriage!

God doesn’t look at your outward appearance; He looks at the heart and you should too! Would you want to be with a guy that has a good body and a horrible personality, or would you want a guy that covers up his chest and has an amazing personality?

But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart’ (1 Samual 16:7).

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

So boys and girls, cover up! Because a pretty smile is so much better than a good body!

    1. I agree totally. Another thing that bothers me is in gym and the boys are alloud to take there shirts off. Some girls in the gym are like, “They are so hot!” And you just have to look away becuase in a public school no ones shirt should be off

    2. I see this all the time with guys! Part of me may be attracted to their muscles or whatever, but the better part of me realizes that all they’re trying to do is to draw attention to themselves in the wrong places, just like we girls do sometimes. I totally agree that boys need to be just as aware of the need to keep themselves modest as girls do – even though for some weird reason guys modesty isn’t talked about nearly as much as modesty for girls.

    3. I love this article, but I have a question- when does being attracted to someone become lust? The furthest I’ve ever gone in my head is wondering what it would be like to kiss someone. But my mind stops there-is that really lust? And what’s wrong with considering someone to be hot if that doesn’t make you really lust or sin?

      • Listen, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wondering what it would be like to kiss someone, or to think, “Hey, that guy’s hot.” Personally, I can relate because I think about those things myself. We’re human beings, after all. Liking the opposite sex for their appearance is natural. Also, lust and attraction are completely different, and one can never ‘become’ the other. Being attracted to someone is when you gravitate towards another person because of an attribute or quality they have, whether it be beauty, brains, strength or benevolence. Lust, however, as defined by is an uncontrolled sexual desire towards a person. Lust is a sin, and lusting after someone or causing someone to lust after you are also sins. I hope this helps to answer your question. 🙂

    4. Personally, it annoys me when guys wear baggy pants or shorts, because honestly, who wants to see what kind of underwear you’re wearing? Also, I haven’t seen many guys wear baggy tank tops at my public school, which is enforced by our dress code.
