“No Makeup? No Problem!” Oh, dear, if only it were that easy! For me, that little phrase has not always been my motto! I really enjoy makeup. I love to experiment with different colors and styles. And I also love taking pictures. For me, however, it is sometimes hard to take good pictures. I love my smile, and I smile all the time, but my eyes always scrunch up when I do, especially in pictures. I have found that the only way I seem to look good in pictures is with lots of makeup around my eyes. I truly believed that I looked exactly the way I look in pictures all the time, which made me feel like I needed heavier amounts of makeup daily. I wear makeup every day and felt very plain without it until recently. About a month ago, I was sick for a few weeks and absent from school. In those few weeks, I did not wear an ounce of makeup. It was during that time that I realized that makeup does not have to be a part of me. I was amazed by how comfortable I felt in my own skin (quite literally)! Now when I look in the mirror, I don’t see an incomplete girl who needs makeup, but rather a complete girl, who can wear a little makeup to accentuate what is already there. I enjoy makeup as an artistic tool, but I do not rely on it! As for pictures, I still put on bright, fun makeup for them, but I am starting to care less and less about how pictures portray me. Pictures are only two dimensional, and God made me far more complex than a simple picture can capture. My Lord made me perfect, and I can enjoy painting on the canvas he gave me. The canvas itself, though, is already whole and complete. Psalms 45:11 “Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your Lord.”
We here at Project Inspired want to guide and inspire teen girls to be true to themselves and to God. We want to show young girls how to be people of value and confidence – how to be your own best selves – through leading a Christian life. Who are we? We're a team of girls, like you. We edit the site, we post to social media, we hang out in the chat rooms and forums. We talk with you, we listen to you, and we love you!
