Girls, earlier this week we posted an inspiring story about the Dennehys, who have adopted children from all over the world to create a beautiful family. Adoption is such a courageous and generous decision! That got us to thinking about famous people who have built their own families through adoption. Whether you like these celebs or not, look to their amazing acts of kindness and love…something Christ calls us all to emulate!

I want to adopt! It’s so sweet! I love Angelina’s children! She does a lot of charity and mission trip work. She seems to be a very generous person!

Cute. I really want to adopt when I’m older. I’d actually never thought about it until a few months back I dreamed I adopted a little girl from Asia or Indonesia; I was so happy. When I woke up I knew it was a sign.

My grandparents adopted me when I was two days old. They gave a life to me, a brand new world! My mother and father in having me at a young age, and their relationship failing before I was born, didn’t have the finances to take care of me, nor the room in their lives so they put me up for adoption. I was originally going to go to another family but last minute they decided that wasn’t a good enviornment and my grandparents took me. I grew up going to a Christian school. My family isn’t very religious, but I don’t let that hold me back from growing in my faith and believing in the one true God!

My sister and I were adopted. I really am blessed by where I’m at today considering the “babysitters” my birth mom left me with when I was a baby.

I plan on adopting children when I get married. Children are a blessing from God. Everyday children go without a mom or dad and changing a child’s life and making them smile is the best feeling in the world.

My four younger siblings are from Russia. The youngest is deaf, but now he has a CI so he’s learning English. My family is rather large now, a total of nine members. We’re going to be moving to Russia for full-time missions in a couple years.

One of my best friend’s (who is also a distant cousin) family was going to adopt twins, but the lady miscarried. 🙁 They’re hoping to adopt a little boy from the Dominican Republic or China. One of my close adult friends actually just brought home her 1 year old son from Russia. He is the cutest thing ever!!!

My Church strongly encourages adoption. Both of my pastors have adopted. One family from my Church has 6 children, which are all adopted. Another family has adopted 8 or their 11 children. 🙂
I’ve got a friend who is adopted as well.

I was adopted when I was first born. I am blessed to still have a great relationship with my birth family, including my two biological brothers and half sister! I see them about once a year, which is so fun. It takes a lot to explain though, when I tell people… Yes, I do have siblings, but they don’t live with me, actually they live in Nebraska…Yeah, not so easy to explain! But I love being adopted, even if it does mean I’m taller than both my parents (My biological dad and mom are 6’4″ and 5’11” respectively! I’m currently 5’10 3/4″.
My best friend’s family have also adopted two children…7 years ago a sweet girl from Russia who turned 13 today, and in June 2011, a 6-year-old from Ukraine who has had quite the tough year and a half…including brain surgery in March 2012 that left her hospitlized for 3 1/2 weeks, and repeated trips back to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore over the past year.

Every child deserves a mother and a father, that’s why adoption is such a good thing! God wants us to take care of each other, and this is one of the ways we do!

I love how Angelina and Brad adopted, but they are both atheists. I respect their choices in adoption but not who they are.

You do realize that they way you phrased that just said that you didn’t respect who they are, don’t you? I think we should respect everyone, whether their beliefs differ from ours or not. Just because you don’t agree with them doesn’t mean God doesn’t want you to respect them.

I know you probably didn’t mean it to sound like that, but you should be careful with your words. They’re not harmless… Even a ‘simple’ mistake can really hurt.
