Christi Covers Hillsong Young & Free’s “Highs and Lows”

For you Project Inspired Girls who have been on the PI site for a while, you may remember a segment called “Christi Covers” that I did of my favorite worship songs. I did a couple of secular songs, too, such as “Let It Go” by Demi Lovato from Frozen and “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood.

Here is my latest cover of one of my favorite new worship songs, “Highs and Lows,” by Hillsong Young & Free.

Some of the lyrics, I believe, are from Psalm 139: “If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” Here are some of my favorite parts of the lyrics:

When it feels like the dark

    Lingers longer than the night

When the shadows feel like giants

    Are You chasing me down?

Tell me where could I run

From Your light, where could I hide

    Hemmed within Your precious thoughts

There’s no hiding from Your love

    Highs and lows

Lord, You’re with me either way it goes

Should I rise or should I fall?

    Even so

Lord, Your mercy is an even flow

You’re too good to let me go…

[Songwriters: Aodhan King/Ben Tan/Joel Houston; lyrics © Capitol Christian Music Group]

The original is by Hillsong Young & Free, a youth band from Sydney, Australia. The youth band is from the Hillsong Global church that many of you know, and you probably sing many of their worship songs on Sunday mornings at church or at youth group. I pray this song blesses and inspires you to stay close to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
