Christian Singer V. Rose Chats with PI…Plus, Details on Our Special Listening Party!

Music is my love, it always has been, and that’s because it has the ability to connect with people like nothing else. And I want to take the gift God has given me to the fullest extent and share how He’s constantly pursuing us with his love and grace (V. Rose, clearsightmusic.com).

Girlies, if you haven’t heard of Christian artist V. Rose, you are in for an amazing treat! The singer, 22, is passionate about music and has a God-given gift for it. We love her songs–her honest, real lyrics and beautiful voice speak to us! We also love that she honors God throughout her music, spreading His word, love and grace to her listeners.

We were fortunate enough to speak with the talented musician and role model–read on to find out what inspires her music, her best beauty tips, and much more!

Tell us your story. I started singing age 4. My mom would stand me on a chair at the end of the choir, and I knew at age 6 that I would be a singer for God. He started putting people in my life who helped my career.

I met my manager when I was 15 and was signed to a label at 17. Then I met Christian hip-hop artist Flame. He was impressed that I already had an album done and ready to go. I’ve been touring with him for the past two years and got to travel around the world–to Paris, London and Australia. Now I’m just taking in how awesome God’s been to us.

What inspires your songs/lyrics? The song that really drives the album is “Not So Average.” It almost didn’t make the album, but when when I came up with the concept it was really what was missing.

“Not So Average” was inspired by a 10-year-old girl I met who wasn’t focused on school, but wanted to fit in. She was worried about looking nice and was insecure about her friends and peers, and I remembered being like that. I remember being insecure and not being aware of my true personality. When I grew up, I wanted to be a better role model for young girls.

The song is about understanding that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. God made you just how He wants you to be–you don’t need to be like someone else! Until we start accepting that, we’re not going to be comfortable and we’re not going to shine. I try to write about stuff that encourages girls.

I hope my new website, iamvrose.com, is also a source of inspiration for the girls out there.

Being a teenager is tough in general, let alone being a Christian teenager in today’s world. What’s one thing you want the PI girls to know?  I felt like I was alone in being a Christian girl. I had friends who weren’t Christians, and I had moments where I just wanted to fit in–I was tired of being so different. Stand strong in who you are. Even if your friends don’t like who you are, or your style, be who God made you to be. If your friends don’t like it, maybe they shouldn’t be your friends. I want all you PI girls to know that you should have respect for yourself and be confident in who God made you to be!

What projects do you have coming up? I am releasing a deluxe CD filled with electro pop/electronic dance music (EDM) in February. I also have a new video coming out soon for “Battery” that is styled similar to a Michael Jackson video.

The girls at PI love beauty tips and advice–what are your secrets? I use a hair wand  to create big loose curls. There are a bunch of brands out there. I couldn’t live without Estee Lauder’s Spotlight, a dark spot corrector. It’s perfect for acne issues and makes my skin look flawless with very minimal makeup. I love buying sweaters from thrift stores and adding my own personal flair. And if you’re looking for a feminine touch, throw a bow in your hair. I also tie scarves together to make infinity scarves out of regular scarves.

Which other musicians or celebrities do you admire? Who influences your music? Who would you love to partner with or perform with? I like pop artists such as Katy Perry–she has great drive and spirit, which inspires me to keep doing what I do! There really isn’t a pop artist like me, but that inspires me to go hard for Christ and continue in Christian music. I also love working with Flame; I’ve learned a lot from him while being on stage together. I also like the Capital Kings, who are signed to the TobyMac label, and EDM, which can be considered “too cool” for Christian radio.

Do you get nervous before a performance? How do you handle that? I do! I do jumping jacks, jump up and down, and shadowbox beforehand. It helps calm my nerves and gives me the control to get ready, go out there and give it everything I’ve got.

PI girls, what’s your favorite V. Rose song? She is pursuing her passion for music–what’s your passion? Does she inspire you to pursue yours?

    1. I’m very picky on my music and not trying to judge the person, but why is she making a song close to mj’s? He isn’t Christian and neither is Katy Perry. “Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.” – 2 Corinthians 6:17. We have to be different, not copy what the world does.

      • I completely and respectfully disagree! She does POP music which is a genre of music. On the contrary, I think she does an EXCELLENT job of 2 Corithinians 6:17 by COMPLETELY separating herself by having explicit Christ-centered lyrics that honors God. I personally think she is a role model for “being in the world, but not of.” Her music is relevant in today’s day and age without being worldly.

    2. I LOVE V. Rose! “Not So Average” is like my theme song. Her cd is awesome! My favorite song is “Cry Holy”. I can keep that song on repeat. I also really enjoy, when she sings about going back to God, by using different fairytale stories, like Alice in Wonderland and Dorothy in Oz. “Forgive Me” is also very powerful! I can relate to it a lot. There’s many more, but that’s just a few of them. I can’t wait for the live chat!

    3. I was so happy to be able to make it to part of this! I had never heard any of V. Rose’s music, and what I heard at the listening party was really fun! And she sounded like such a cool person.
