Me Without Makeup

Cortney

I have actually never worn makeup as a regular thing. Sometimes I will wear some when I am with friends and that can be fun. I believe everyone is beautiful, I truly do! Yet, there was a time in my life when I hated myself and my looks, I find that the devil attacks us in many ways and this was just a little attack he had on me. After much growing up I found out who I was in Christ and that He found me beautiful. I even got a purity ring with my best friend. We got ours personally engraved. Her’s says, “True love waits” while mine was a little different and very personal. Mine reads, “SOS 4-7” This stands for Song of Solomon 4:7 which states, “You are altogether beautiful my darling and there is no blemish in you.” When I first read this verse I really didn’t think about it as looks in fact I still don’t. This verse is a promise from God on what I am to strive to be for Him and for my future husband. To be found altogether beautiful without blemish in character and speech, in everything. To be found spotless and blameless in Christ, perfect and complete through Him. I LOVE THAT! I love the way Jesus shows His love each day. Beauty really isn’t what you like because you could be found the most beautiful women in the world yet still think you are not. I find that when we as ladies find ourselves in Christ and find His beauty in us, then we wake up each morning with a smile just knowing that Jesus is in awe of us and He find us so beautiful. So true beauty is found in Christ, when we know He loves us, we will know that we are altogether beautiful without blemish! Sometimes I think my nose is too big or my hair not thick enough but really none of that matters because to feel beautiful because no amount of makeup can achieve that true feeling of beauty Christ’s gives us, for He is truly beautiful. So here is my photo, one of my biggest insecurities is having my hair up so I put it up for the photo just because beauty is in Christ and He adores me. He adores you too!

You are beautiful without makeup! I think its awesome that you and your friend got purity rings together. And I love your thoughts about that Song of Solomon verse. I don’t know how old you are, but you seem very wise for your age!

This brought tears to my eyes! What you say is so true and beautiful. I loved what you said about “when find ourselves in Christ and find His beauty in us, then we wake up each morning with a smile just knowing that Jesus is in awe of us and He find us so beautiful”. I think this is one of my favorite “Me Without Makeup” article 🙂
You know, I also got a purity ring with my best friend… and my ring also ways “True love waits”!
    Thank you for sharing!!
