Cute (and Modest!) Summer Outfit Trends

I always get excited for summer clothing—cute tank tops and shorts; bright colors; fun beach hats and bags! And then I walk into the mall and rarely walk out with anything. Everything I try on has things hanging out that shouldn’t be hanging out, if you know what I mean! I feel like each year the shorts just get shorter and shorter, and the tops get smaller and smaller. These are the moments that I so badly want to be back in the winter months where modest clothes are actually in style! It seems so much easier in winter to look super trendy and cute while still actually wearing clothes, haha!

I’m sure you all can relate to these frustrating summer shopping moments! But instead of giving up and just wearing a paper bag as our clothing for the summer, I thought we could get some cute ideas from one of our most stylish friends around, Amanda Lackey. She is by FAR the coolest, most fashionable, super trendy, Jesus-loving friend we have! It’s actually kind of unreal how cute all of her outfits are. So rather than wishing all of her clothes could be ours, I figured we could draw some inspiration from her fantastic fashion sense. Let’s get started!

1. Pair a cute crop top with a high-waisted skirt.

How cute is this?! I love how she has a fun summer print on top with a more basic but unique skirt on bottom. Crop tops are definitely in right now, and just because they are short and potentially midriff-baring shirts doesn’t mean you can’t rock them modestly! Throw those on with a higher-waisted skirt, shorts or pants, and you are good to go!

2. Accessorizing is everything!

Adding a cute summer hat or bag is the perfect thing to make a simpler outfit stand out! There are so many cute and inexpensive options out there. Changing up accessories is a great way to make the same outfit look different without having to spend the money on an entirely new outfit!

3. Throw on a kimono, shawl or jacket.

I’m a little obsessed with kimonos right now. Look at how adorable Amanda’s outfit is! To me, they’re the perfect way to take your outfit to the next level. They come in so many different colors, prints and lengths; the options are endless! I also love that she threw on a more simple and basic jean jacket with a printed dress. Jackets or kimonos are the perfect way to cover up if you don’t love being in thinner straps or having all of your arms showing.

4. Wear a cute and comfy summer dress.

Can you see now why we’re so in love with Amanda’s style?! This dress is SO much fun with the two different patterns on top and bottom. My favorite thing about this dress is its structure and fit. It’s so comfy (not one of those skin-tight ones that you feel like you can’t eat in, haha!) and yet very flattering with the waistline it provides in the hem. Finding a dress like this to feel cute on a hot summer’s day will be one of your best purchases, I promise!

We hope you are feeling fashion-inspired by now!

I love them all. I also like turquoise jewelry, and some bohemian chic outfits are cute (others too revealing), but I’m all for natural tones. Amen for hats. Protect your skin, ladies!
