    December Book Club: “I’m in Love with a Church Girl”

    Merry Christmas season, my beautiful Book Club Girls!

    ‘Tis the season to be jolly, so we’re going to dive right into a love story for our book club selection this month. I’m in Love with a Church Girl by Ryan Phillips is a novel that was written based on the movie of the same name, and it’s the story of a good Christian girl named Vanessa falling for a former bad boy from the ‘hood named Miles. They fall in love and live happily ever after…or do they?

    Can Miles really put all his past behind him? Should Vanessa get serious with a guy who does not share her faith? How can Vanessa ever know if Miles will really change, and should she give her heart to him before he gives his heart to Jesus? These are just some of the questions Vanessa and Miles face in I’m in Love with a Church Girl.

    I think it’s a great book to challenge us in the way we look at dating, the way we talk about it with our friends,and the boundaries we set for ourselves. I didn’t know Christ when I began dating, so I think it is awesome that you, my sweet girls, get a chance to think about all of these things and make wise choices before you fall head over heels for a guy who might not treat you like the girl you are–the princess daughter of the King of Kings!

    You are royalty, and any man you date needs to know–and act–like he is the Prince of the King of Kings. In Hollywood, the frog turns into the prince every time; but can we count on that in real life? I’m in Love with a Church Girl gives us a chance to talk to some of our friends and family about questions just like that. Hollywood happy endings are awesome, but we want to make sure our happy endings last for a lifetime, not just an hour and a half on the big screen!

    So grab a cup of hot chocolate and a copy of I’m in Love with a Church Girl, and let’s talk this month about the choices Vanessa and Miles made…and the choices we want to make so love can last a lifetime. My happy ending is being tucked up on the couch with my wonderful husband Eric and our precious baby Elijah Benjamin. But I wouldn’t have this ending without Jesus. What about you?
