Denzel Washington Encourages Students to Follow Their Dreams and Pray!

Oh my goodness! Ladies, I have such a fantastic Caught Being Godly for you this week. It’s an awesome clip of Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington mentoring aspiring actors.

Washington talks about dreams and goals, achievement and consistency. But most of all, he talks about God, prayer and glorifying Him in our endeavors.

Among his tips, Washington reminds the students to pray every morning. “I pray that you all put your shoes way under the bed at night,” he suggested, “so that you gotta get on your knees in the morning to find them. And while you’re down there, thank God for grace and mercy and understanding. We all fall short of the glory.”

He goes on to encourage the students to use their God-given talent for good. He reminds them that they can’t take their wealth with them and so they should share it with others. I found this to be such an inspirational video!

Ladies, listen to Washington’s speech. Whether you’re an aspiring actress, singer, author, chef, designer, doctor, anything—this applies to you. This applies to all of us! I love this clip and I love looking at the faces of the young men and women as they listen to Washington speak. So cool!

The clip was posted by actor Tyrese Gibson. Thanks to him for sharing this, and I pray that you find it as inspiring as I did.

“True desire in the heart for anything good is God’s proof to you sent beforehand to indicate that it’s yours already.” —Denzel Washington

Ladies, did you find Washington’s speech inspiring?

Wow, I knew that he was a Christian, but didn’t know how much God filled wisdom he has to offer the younger generation. Thank you Denzel for being an awesome influence in this world, and thank you T.M. Gaouette for posting this it inspired me this morning. 🙂
