PI Girls, as you know, I love reading God’s Word and I will be contributing a couple of articles a month on a “Bible study” topic for you. My prayer is that these pieces will deepen your faith, stir a hunger for more truth and spark an interest in other facets of your relationship with Christ.
Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong, or that you weren’t accepted? Some people feel like this at school, and sometimes even with their own families. The good news is that when we trust God with our life and receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus on the cross, we can fully experience true love. As believers, we are children of God, adopted into God’s family. (Ephesians 1) Isn’t that amazing?!
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” –Romans 8:17
If we have faith in God and believe that Jesus died for us on the cross and rose again on the third day, we are heirs through Christ. (Romans 8:17) It is through faith in the sacrifice Jesus paid for our sins that we are able to have fellowship with the living, Almighty God. Nothing else gets us to God. Not good intentions, not religion, not by works…only by faith in the precious word of Calvary. (John 3:16-17)
Jesus Christ took your place for all of your sins so that not only you could be in God’s family in eternity, but also so that you would have abundance in this life. (John 10:10) This is such a beautiful illustration of LOVE. The Bible says so many times that His love for us is everlasting and that nothing we do can separate us from HIS LOVE!
“…In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.” –Ephesians 1:4
Not only does God love us so much, but just as the scripture says, nothing can separate us from His love–not angels, demons…nothing! Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” –Romans 8: 37-39
You may be asking, how do I become a part of God’s family? It is simple. Ask God to come into your heart, and believe in faith (believing in the power of redemption in the Lord Jesus through the cross on Calvary for YOUR sin) that Jesus is Lord and is the Son of God. Then the Holy Spirit will come into your life after you allow God into your heart, and through Jesus you will have fellowship and communion with God.
In 1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ.”
Below is an illustration of how sin separates us. The cross is a symbol of God’s love through the death of Jesus and through His shed blood (the ultimate sacrificial lamb), so that we can have eternal life with God after we pass on from this earth. We cannot be in front of a Holy God without Holiness. The only way was for Jesus to take our place, and by our participation of faith, we become children of God, and God our Father.
If you are willing and want to have a relationship with God (not religion or by works, but simply because of God’s amazing love) say this prayer either in your head or out loud:
“Jesus, I ask you to be Lord of my life, I receive you as the Messiah, as the One true King of Kings, spoken about hundreds of years before Christ was born. I believe, God, that You sent Your Son to die for me so that I may have eternal life, and one that would bless others on this earth. Help me to serve You and to turn from my sins, please; God, forgive me of anything that I have said or done that may have been displeasing to You. Help me to honor you, Lord, every day. Thank you, God, for being my Father and for allowing me to be co-heirs with Christ in Your Kingdom. I thank You for eternal forgiveness. I ask for Your help every day, in Jesus’ name amen.”
Amen! If you believe what you just prayed, you are part of God’s family! I know, it seems so simple, but it is! God is now going to help you through His spirit to guide you through the Bible and His Holy Word. It is important that you read your Bible (or Bible app) to be able to abide and keep growing. Also, when you feel weak or tempted, call upon the name of the Lord and ask for help; God will hear you! Also, try to find a local church or youth group to be a part of. Sometimes you can even find a Christian club on campus! If all else fails and you don’t find a physical community of people, know that you always have Project Inspired. I highly recommend that you ask your parents or another believer you trust and respect to help you find a community.
