Sometimes you acquire clothes at a sale or from a friend, and they turn out to not be as modest as you originally thought. Or maybe you find an item that you love, but it just doesn’t cover enough. Our modest guide tips will help you easily transform your outfits!
1. Dress extender
Ever get tired of those mini skirts and dresses that just are not long enough?
Kelly’s Korner shows us this ingenious way to use a dress extender. Boot Cuffs and Socks has lots of inexpensive and adorable options.

Have you tried any of these tips before? Do you have any other awesome ones we left out?
Hate to say it but I’m probably not going to use any of these lol especially not the dress extender. That’s the normal length of the dresses I usually wear and that’s not short at all!
I usually just sew a strip of fabric in a complimentary or matching color on the bottom, so I don’t have to deal with any extra layers or finding the matching slip. I am a teacher at a boy’s middle school, so even though other ladies I see around wear shorter skirts, I prefer to keep it no more than 3 inches or so above the knee. I’m tall and currently live in Asia, so most dresses are reeeeeallly short on me.
I like all of them, except for maybe the first. IK that Number 3’s are called “Cami Secret” or something (they’re one of those “As Seen on TV” thingies), but the ones I personally thought were cutest were the last few. I think wearing a log-sleeved or even a short sleeved top under a possibly immodest casual jumper/dress is adorable, and that wearing very cute leggings under holey (geddit– holey… holy… XD bad pun, IK ) jeans could be the next big thing in modest fashion. Personally, I am currently not apply any of these to myself (namely because my wardrobe is in general pretty modest! ), but the one where you put the tank top or cami underneath an immodest top. I frequently do this with any top that shows too much skin, or is too revealing of… ahem… certain undergarments. XD But yeah, in short, for the most part these are great tips! Keep ’em comin’, ladies!! 🙂
All of these are cute! I love the extra frill the first one adds to the dress.
Love them!
I use tank tops alllll the time. I love em
OOOO I really like #2
I always wear tanks under my shirts!
Wait, about the Jean leggings one, Scripture states to not wear tore clothing?
Great ideas! Especially the first one; my parents are quite specific about too short skirts/ dresses/ shorts. It´s become quite a problem to find “acceptable” shorts for summer :/
I’m not an overly-big fan of these. While everybody’s concept of modest is totally different from person-to-person (I think a sweetheart neckline is OK for a wedding dress, while others wouldn’t dare go sleeveless for modesty reasons), the fashion geek in me leans towards clothes that are fashionable AND modest. For me, that means palazzo pants instead of leggings for comfort pants, and wearing crop tops only with high-waisted pants. I also think it’s kind of tacky to wear a skirt under a dress for extended length when a dress is around the knee-length and doesn’t need it.
I thought the originals were already fine…
