Former Flyleaf Singer Lacey Sturm Discusses Atheism and God

Hey ladies, I always find it interesting to learn why and how former atheists convert to Christianity. Often their testimonies are so inspirational. God is amazing, and when He softens a heart, it can be a beautiful thing, am I right?

For this Caught Being Godly article, I wanted to share an awesome clip with you. And if you’re a Flyleaf fan, you’ll be super excited to know that it’s of former Flyleaf lead singer Lacey Sturm!

In promoting her upcoming book, The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living, Sturm spoke candidly about her faith and her days as an atheist. Check out the clip below and share your thoughts!

Sturm says: “When I was an atheist I hated people, especially people that talked about God. I thought that they were naïve. It wasn’t a good thing to tell people about God and make them feel like they’re safe and that He’s going to take care of them when bad things happen.”

Ladies, have you read Sturm’s book? If so, share your thoughts. We love to hear from you!

I listened to Flyleaf on and off in my teen years because I was going through a dark phase. But after the dark phase, I still loved her voice and so I was excited that she went solo. I’ve heard her testimony. It’s incredible.

I’ve listened to Flyleaf consistently for years through my dark phases and not-so-dark ones. Their music is incredibly powerful and every song expresses such a deep longing for God to show up in miraculous ways and heal broken hearts. Also Lacey’s been my role model for forever, but after reading her book she is officially my favorite living human. She’s taught me so much about God and about myself, I owe her testimony and her music so much.

She has a couple songs as an independent singer! The Reason and Mercy Tree, look them up- they are, in my opinion, even better than her stuff from when she was with Flyleaf. 🙂
