Every week, I go through the “Girl Talk” section of Project Inspired and look for those seeking advice and council. I want to help answer some questions you may have about living out your Christian life and walk of faith! We want PI to be a safe place where you can ask questions.
This week’s post comes from a girl who is suffering through some hard circumstances, and some insecurities she is feeling in her family relationships. For the sake of privacy, I will refrain from posting the link, but if you would like to read through our Girl Talk forums and post comments, click here.
Sometimes it can seem like we are alone on our journey, or we may feel like no one cares. Obviously, we know that the truth is we are LOVED, CHERISHED, REDEEMED, VALUED and are God’s prized people! We are God’s children and He delights in us! We are the apple of His eye; just like a Father cares for His children, so God does for you!
Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings (Psalm 17:8).
Even if your earthly parents aren’t understanding or loving, God loves you! We honor our parents and love our friends no matter what happens, but it can be hard. We need to switch our minds from the natural to the supernatural and remember what God’s Holy Word says about us. Feelings and emotions can send false messages. Our circumstances are temporary, and remember…things ALWAYS get better!
And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows (Matthew 10:30-31).
Think of your circumstances this way–at least we have victory in Christ and know that ALL things will work out for the good of those who love God (Romans 8). Even if we don’t feel loved or understood, Jesus understands!
He was persecuted and went through so much suffering when He was taken to be killed on the cross at Calvary. Even in the events leading up to his death, Jesus had temptations and battled the flesh (Matthew 26:48). He was even nervous in the garden of Gethsemane. His circumstance was nerve-wracking, scary and dark, but Jesus knew what the outcome would be. He knew He had to go through with God’s plan and His will, even though it didn’t feel good.
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing; but the body is weak (Matthew 26:41).
Obviously, there are situations in which you need to speak up. If someone is bullying or harming you, then that is real and is something that needs to be dealt with. If you happen to just feel lonely and are going through normal human emotions, don’t worry…YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
We all have good times and bad. It is how we look at our lives, our season we are living in, and it is ALL about perspective!
Let us persevere through trials and realize there is a crown of glory awaiting us in eternity when we overcome trials; when we honor God and don’t give up, we WILL reap a harvest (Galatians 6:9). Remember God’s Kingdom is the opposite of the world’s system. It says in the book of James that when we have struggles and trials, we are blessed. Seems crazy, right? Well, it further explains that the trials gives us discipline, perseverance (like an athlete has), and ultimately, character.
We desire to be godly people and followers of Jesus, but there will be dry seasons. We just need to remember God is SO faithful, and He brought the Israelites out of the dry desert into the lush, bountiful land flowing with milk and honey. He promises this for me and you, too!
Ultimately, God is working on our hearts, has compassion and will bring us into His promises when we are ready! Don’t give up and keep your head held high. Remember, you are God’s chosen royalty!
