This week, a PI girl asked what to do when she faces spiritual warfare. She also mentioned recently that she felt attacked physically and spiritually and asked for prayer. Has this ever happened to you and do you know what to do in this type of situation in your faith walk?
Being a Christian is not always easy, and doesn’t eliminate suffering or attack. We must be prepared and daily clothe ourselves with Christ and the Word of God. We must wear the full armor of God, which helps protect us from spiritual attacks and deterrents. If we do not watch and pray, we can be side swiped, similar to a sporting game when your opposing team comes out of left field you can lose your defense and become susceptible to the enemy.
It says in the Bible, that the “…Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak…” (Matthew 26:40-41) and also we know as believers that Satan roars around like a lion, looking for prey and seeks to whom he can devour. If you don’t experience warfare that can be a red flag in the spirit, because if you are a threat to the enemy, you are doing something right! If you aren’t a threat to the enemy I would ask whose side you are on, but it doesn’t mean you don’t experience joy, but we must realize we will, like the Bible says, “…experience trials of many kinds…”
“Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?’he asked Peter. ‘Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:40-41)
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4)
We should actually be flattered when we are attacked spiritually and physically instead of everything “appearing to be perfect.” This must sound very odd to you that James in the Bible says, REJOICE when you face trials! What? You may ask why have joy when I am suffering? Well, we rejoice because we know that God is sharpening us in our character. When we go through hard times, it makes us stronger.!
What should you do in the case of facing spiritual battles? You need to first: pray, then you need to read God’s Word, then you need to apply God’s Word, ask for sisters in Christ to pray for you. It is important during battles or storms that you have strong women around you who are like minded.
During the hard seasons of life, it is so vital that you are alert, sober and aware of where your weak or vulnerable places of attack are. We must guard ourselves from those places where we are not as equipped spiritually. As a community, know that you are NOT alone, and we are here to pray for you and to support you.
PI girls, comment below if you need prayer! We love you girls! Jesus loves you so much!!
