This week, on Project Inspired, an anonymous girl wrote on our Girl Talk forum and asked about studying the Bible and said she doesn’t know where to start. She asked if we have any advice, so here are a couple of ideas.
The first piece of advice I would give to someone who is just starting to read the Bible is to start in the book of John. John is one of the four Gospels in the New Testament, and according to pastors and many believers it is a good place to start.
Another idea is to get the Holy Bible app on your phone and start a Bible reading plan. The third idea, is that you can get the “Read Through the Bible in a Year,” which compiles your daily reading for you by date. The fourth option is to get into a Bible Study at church in your youth group or a women’s study where you focus on specific sections or topics of the Bible like Queen Esther, King David, spiritual warfare and so forth. The final idea is to buy a daily devotional to go deeper.
I would definitely ask a youth pastor or one of your leaders at church to get a community group together for accountability for your homework and or reading. I would also connect on campus to a christian club for like minded friendships and help in your faith-walk. Sometimes churches have mini church, or community groups. All you need to do is ask a leader or someone who works at the church for information.
You can also go online to Lifeway and find women’s studies with Bible teachers Christine Caine, Priscilla Shier, Kay Arthur, Beth Moore and more! Please message me if you have any questions or need more information on in depth Bible Studies. https://www.lifeway.com
