Happy Mother’s Day!

I appreciate my mom so, so much. She was only 16 when she had me, and always sacrificed her wants for my needs. Instead of going out and having fun with her friends, she would stay home and watch me. She managed to finish community college, then get her bachelor’s degree, then completed law school to go on to become a lawyer. Looking back, I have no idea how she managed to accomplish all  that while raising me herself. She is incredibly kind, loving, and the best mom a girl could ask for. What are you thankful for your mom about? I would love to hear! Here are some phrases you  can tell your mom today to make her feel loved!Me and my mom on my birthday, November 25. 🙂

I went out to eat with my parents and grandparents. Then, we went to my grandparents’ house so Mom and Grandma could open their gifts. Then we went to my godmother’s house for about an hour.

I wrote a letter to her about why I love her and what she means to me. It made her so happy she cried. It’s in a frame now. 🙂

Are you telling me you couldn’t even find a second to write another Mother’s Day article, or even change the picture to a current one, instead choosing to repost last year’s?
Forget the girls, your mother deserves more than that.

I made my mom a collection of things that remind me of her: music lyrics, pictures, prayers, poems.

I made my mom a giant card and around the edges I wrote the lyrics to songs about mothers. Then, I made her a CD with all the songs I used lyrics from.

I love my mom so much! A church was selling Mother’s Day baskets and I bought one for her. It had jewelry, soaps, perfume, clothes and a handbag. I gave it to her this morning before church and she loved it. Then after church my dad and I treated her to dinner at China Wok. She said she had a wonderful day. I’m glad because she really deserves it. 🙂

I made my mom breakfast in bed: pancakes with bananas and blueberry syrup, cinnamon applesauce, and fruit punch!

You make me so proud! Your upbringing was pretty unconventional and there were plenty of ups and downs but all in all it looks like it helped you become the amazing woman you are today. I love you!

I made my mom a homemade card and envelope, and sewed her a heart with a note that said “This is my heart, it’s not perfect, it’s tattered and torn but you’ll always have a special place in it.” She loved it.

That is so sweet Kathryn! homemade cards are the best gift a mom could ask for. You are a kind daughter. 🙂

I made mom a card with pressed flowers. Then I won a game for lillyoflavalleecrafts.com so I got $20 store credit for her to use. And I bought her two Helen Steiner Rice poetry books. Much more useful than my usual candle or dustcollecting decor item. 😛

Hey Emily- What an original and fun idea. Where did you get the pressed flowers from?

My mom always seems to know what I’m going to say before I even say it. So we tease her and says she speaks “Melissa-ese” =) I found a super cute devotional for moms called “Speaking Mom-ese” and thought it was perfect! So I got her a card and the devotional book. We went and saw a movie earlier and to dinner at her favorite mexican restraunt

Well, I made my mom a card and put in it a special picture. It was of our family cat, & I think she liked it
