In life, we face circumstances that can challenge our faith. In the Bible, Abraham and Sarah, the patriarchs of the Israelites waited on God for 90 years for their promised son Isaac. And just like many of us would, they caved in to fear along the way. How can we have faith instead of fear?
We must read God’s Word and rehearse His truths and His promises. Then, we need to believe in faith and trust that God is good and that He keeps his word and covenant. When we do these things, not only do we operate in hope, but miracles can happen!
We all have circumstances that can stretch us, test us and can even make us lean on God more than ever. When we lean on our own flesh or understanding, we start to operate in fear. When we begin to doubt, shrink back and when we question God’s Word like Eve did in the Garden of Eden, temptation and sin can creep in. The enemy always wants us to question God’s goodness and make us feel (emotions) like we are missing out.
Life is a journey full of trials, tribulations, hills, valleys, ups and downs as well as, highs and lows. If you think that life will be a cake walk with no tests you’re only fooling yourself! If you never have to operate out of faith, are you even in the faith? We must press in to God’s presence through worship, prayer and the reading of His Word to stand firm in faith.
The Bible says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word.” (Romans 10:17)
What we feed grows and if we feed our doubts, anxieties and fears, they will grow. When we feed our soul the truth with the Bible (the Holy Scriptures), that’s when we are covered spiritually.
Do you tend to operate out of fear or out of faith? Do you try to “make things happen,” or do you follow God’s leading of the Holy Spirit and trust that He can do all things?
Do you believe that God has good plans for you? Remember, all things work for the good of the believer, just trust God and I promise you will be more peaceful.
