Headed to Hollywood? Don’t Forget to Take These Bible Verses with You!

I know many of you PI ladies have a desire to be famous. That’s great. But as you know, Hollywood has a way of taking good Christian people and turning them around. Hollywood is full of temptation and this is why we refer to it as the “Devil’s Playground.”

If you’re heading to Hollywood, I pray that you are successful in your endeavors, assuming that your intention is to glorify God through your talents. Which leads me to the 10 Bible verses I hope you take with you on your journey toward success.

    • Glorifying God in whatever you choose to do is His desire. So let the following scripture remind you of this responsibility.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

    • When it feels like you’ll never reach your dream, recite this truth.

For with God nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).

    • Your journey won’t be easy. Competition will likely be tough and you may experience much hardship. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have a fair shot. The following is a great verse and one of my favorites.

I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me (Philippians 4:12-13).

    • It’s easy to get lost and feel forgotten in Hollywood. But remembering God’s amazing love should fill your heart with joy.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

    • Don’t stop praising God. You may be tempted to, either because things are going well, or maybe because others in the industry criticize you. Maybe you wrongly assume the gesture is “getting old.” Never stop praising Him.

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name (Hebrews 13:15).

    • When you praise Him, you may be scorned, ridiculed, mocked. Actually, I guarantee it. But don’t worry. It’s expected, and God’s worth it.

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf (1 Peter 4:16).

    • Be careful who you hang out with. In a post related to Whitney Houston’s death, I mentioned how Celine Dion admitted she was afraid to hang out in Hollywood. She gets the job done and goes home. You should be afraid too. That fear will keep you safe.

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame (1 Corinthians 15:33-34).

    • Never foolishly assume you are beyond temptation. You will be exposed to many types of temptation, whether it’s addictive vices, bad behavior or sexualizing yourself. But Christ will keep you strong.

There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it (1 Corinthians 10:13).

    • There will be those who try to deceive you or take advantage of you. Even if you’re not sure what a person’s intentions are, remember this verse.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ (Colossians 2:8).

    • As your success grows, remain grounded. Never forget that you’re human, an equal and a child of God. You’re no better than anyone and your talent is your gift.

For I say, through the grace given to me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3).

I hope you like my verses. I hope they guide you, strengthen you and keep you faithful to Christ. There are so many more beautiful verses that are useful in guiding your career through Hollywood. So I urge you to read your Bible on a regular basis.

May God bless you, PI ladies, in your endeavor to make a difference in Hollywood! What are your hopes and dreams for your future?

    1. I’ve been in a lotta movies and just got done filming one. I have NO desire to go intto Hollywood. I wanna go to Broadway. Maybe be like Barbra Streisand(my idol) and go into Hollywood after Broadway. <3

      • Hey, that sounds awesome! Try not to think of Barbra Streisand as your idol, though. Think of her as someone that you look to for inspiration because the God says you should not have any idols except Me.

Keep following God and your dreams 🙂

    2. Sometimes I really want to be famous, but not as an actor but as a physician… or let’s say I wanted to. Next year I’ll be leaving highschool with the age of 16 and I do not have any idea what to do afterwards. I wanted to do a gap year abroad but as long as Im a minor thats (nearly) impossible. Your bible verses encouraged me to keep on searching but please could some of you pray for me to find gods plan for my life? thanks a lot 🙂

      • Hi little angel! I’ll be graduating when I’m 16, too, and I don’t know what I want to do as a occupation when I get older, either, but I wanted to share with you that I am going to the Honor Academy in Texas the fall after I graduate. The Honor Academy is a one year internship, focusing on setting aside a year of your life before you go to college or whatever and pursuing Jesus and finding your direction for life. Their website is honoracademy.com. I’ll be praying for you!

        • Hey violiinist4him!
thanks for your comment… this sounds great. But sadly I’m not from the U.S. (to be exact, from Germany) and so this probably doesn’t work for me :’)
I wanted to do social work (e.g. in a kindergarden or preschool or with andicapped people) but I was thinking about a bible school (don’t know if this works in English) as well.
But you will find your way (and I really hope you will go there! ) and hopefully I’ll find mine. Thanks! If you want to, I’ll be praying for you as well.

    3. This is a great article. I’ve seen too many people fall into the Hollywood trap. And that’s what it is. It’s a trap for people who aren’t rooted deeply in the Lord.
I’ve wanted to put videos on YouTube, you know, of me singing and playing the piano/guitar. I think that would be all right. But I would never want to go to Hollywood because, as Celine Dion (my fourth cousin 😉 ) says, it’s a scary place. And people forget that all too easily.

    4. Thank you so much for this. I want to be a director (of movies), and even a part-time actress or singer of some sort, and I also want the Lord to be with me and guide me in my dreams and goals. ^_^

And I like Celine Dion, she’s nice, and very talented and beautiful. 🙂

    5. i really want to be famous one day and i want to go to hollywood. but i am scared and frankly, im glad i am. the real reason i want to be famous is so that i can be a light in one of the most dangerous places in the world and i want to be famous so people will want to follow my example as a celeb.

      • Nmc111, I totally agree! I love to perform and one day I hope to be famous–but not just for my singing/dancing/acting. I want to be famous for spreading the light in a very dark place called Hollywood.

    6. For anyone who is just starting up, I recommend looking into amtc and their website amtcworld.com, it stands for actors models and talent for Christ. It a blessing and a great career launcher for me, and I know that it can be the same for you!:)!

    7. Hi. I want to be a music producer and song writer. However, I am having a hard time getting through college. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD Inattentive type. I have a hard time focusing, reading comprehension and retaining information. On top of that was diagnosed with schizophrenia 4 years ago. I just wish something would have been done about the ADHD when i was a kid because i could be so much farther in school then where I am now. I’m 23 about to turn 24 in August and i still struggle with what it is i want to do. I love music so much. I even dream about creating perfect songs that are well written and sound amazing but when i wake up. I can’t remember one thing about what i dreamed about. I write as well but have hard time getting anything out. I know the Entertainment industry is somewhere in my future. About 5 months ago a lady who has the gift of prophecy prophesied to me and told me without knowing anything about me, she told me that I had alot of gifts and hidden talents within the arts. She told me that i would be doing production, directing, dance, music, clothing and that i had alot of hidden talents that i didn’t even know about. I was surprised to hear that but felt stuck because even though these are all the things I want to do I am average in every area of my life that im passionate about. It’s just a real struggle and confusing. I don’t know what to do. Life is going by so fast and i feel like I don’t have anything to show for it. I’m still a sophmore in college and don’t know how im going to make it. The classes are very demanding and hard. My younger brother has already graduated from and Ivy League College. I just really need help and I could really use you guys prayers because all I have is hope and faith that things will change and that i will graduate from college with honors and those hidden talents, and those wonderful dreams and my passions will come alive again. I just believe it will. I know im here for a purpose. I have been through situations with my illness where i could have been raped or even dead. But God protected me without even a scratch. He has always been there for me. Sometimes i tend to forget all the great things he has done for me. Things just seem so dim right now. If you ever seen the Ray Charles movie, I feel like him when he first went blind as little kid and his mom showed tough love by allowing him to figure his way out through his blindness without helping him. But in all actuality she did help. She didn’t want him to think of himself as crippled even though he was. When he dropped something or couldn’t find his way. She would stay silent and not even say anything. She really loved him that much to let him find his way. But she never left his side even though he did not know she was there. That’s what i feel like God is doing to me because I struggle with hearing him or deciphering how he is speaking to me and many times I can’t sense his presence. This has made me feel depressed, but some how I have had perservered and become stronger every time i do feel his presence. It’s very painful and stressful but i won’t give up. I guess this is what tough love is. I feel like Im in boot camp. I hope you ladies read this and if you could please give me some advice. Your prayers would mean alot. I love you guys. Thank You.

      Justina

      • I will definitely be praying for you. God will always be with you and has big plans for your future! One of my favorite Bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11 ” For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” God’s timing is a little different than ours, but He’s always right on time!

    8. Nicole, Thank you soooooo much for posting this. i have had a dream since i was little to be an actress and i didnt really realize until a couple of months ago that hollywood is a dangerous trap……but this dream is so important to me because i feel like i have a huge talent for acting yet i feel that i could be salt and light for God’s kingdom if i did become famous ……..only one problem… i dont know how to get there……

    9. I love this! That’s why I love the site because it has so much inspiration on it in a Christianly manner. I’ve always wanted to become an actress since I was little. I still do but i’m not obsessed with it as I once was. If I ever do decide to end up going into the business I will definately stick all these verses to my walls !

    10. i aspire to be an actress sin movies, and on broadway, and kinda like tyra banks and nicole weider; inspiring girls to be their best, and encouraging otherst, while keeping their dignity and self-respect. personally, i like what lady gaga has done (in empowering those who may feel outcast), but i’d like to steer clear of the habit she has in calling her fans ‘monsters’ -a thing they feared would come out of their beds at night and eat them…it’s just a bit odd if you ask me…

    11. Hi everyone, this article helped me so much. I’m Taymi and I’m 15. I aspire to be a singer, dancer and actress. I’ve been through a lot and seen so much. Honestly, Hollywood doesn’t have enough positive role models, and I want to be that good one. I want to be the one that teaches people about self-respect and God. I want to be the one that teaches girls that they are beautiful, even without makeup, and that there’s no need to dress provocatively. I’m Dominican and I come from a very Christian family, so I was always thought to be different, now that I live in the US. There was a time in my life when I felt worthless because I didn’t fit in, I was the one who was always wearing jeans and shirt as all my friends were wearing shorts and crop tops I don’t wear makeup , I have never been in a relationship because I am not allowed to date either and this site made me realize that everything I have done and not fitting in is right, so I just wanted to thank you. I was just wondering, if you, PI readers could please watch this video of me dancing and improvising and tell me what you think? I would really appreciate. Please pray so I can make it to Hollywood and still glorify for everything. I will never forget this site.
