Me Without Makeup

What I like about myself…
Before I was saved, I used to hate the way I looked. I always wanted to look like someone else, like a Victoria’s Secret model with the “perfect” face, teeth, body and bronzed skin.
Now, I have embraced my unique features.
I love my naturally rosy cheeks. Although I have a relatively good complexion, I used to use a lot of foundation products to conceal them. People always try to get rosy cheeks so why am I trying to hide them?! They’re a sign of youth my mom says.
I also love my teeth, they’re healthy so that’s all that matters – right? Who cares if they’re anything else but white. I have a few chips and they’re a little crooked but it doesn’t matter.
I have a scar on my right eye and I used to get my bangs cut only towards the right to hide it. Now I don’t even care! Sure, the scar is from when I was little because I scratched a chicken pox too much. But really — who cares? Besides, it suits me more when my hair is parted to the left! I have a cowlick and it’s easier to manage it when my bangs are shaped to the left.
Last but not least, I burn quite easily which I don’t understand because I’m metis. However, I do, and so it takes me a while to get a tan. I don’t like selftanners because they’re number one, fake and number two, they smell funny and don’t go on evenly. It’s just too much effort. The sun hits your entire body when you’re in it, it’s so much better. However, I went to beauty college and found out in depth what the sun does to your skin and so I honestly don’t care if I’m bronzed or not! It’s healthier to put SPF on and be yourself! When did bronzed skin become one of the standards for beauty? I love Marilyn Monroe and the pin up girl look, and none of them have bronzed skin. So beautiful!
I praise God for how uniquely beautiful each of us are! Think about how boring the world would be if everyone looked the same! There is someone out there that will love you for you and won’t even see the flaws that all of us talk about. Remember that!
I’m so confident without makeup — without mascara, foundation, lipgloss, etc. I feel much more free when I can rub my eyes when they’re itchy or lay my head down on a pillow without worrying about smearing anything.
Take care and God bless you girls!
