Here Are 21 Acts of Kindness You Can Do for Others!

Isn’t it amazing when someone does something so kind that it brightens up your entire day? Here are 21 ways YOU can make someone’s day extra special!

    1. Say “good morning” to your teacher when you enter the classroom! She’ll be surprised–most students don’t do that!

    2. Write a letter to a classmate who is struggling. It may be the only thing that keeps them holding on when they’re down.

    3. Put away the groceries for your parents when they get back from the store.

    4. Say “I appreciate all that you do for me” to your parents.

    5. Hold a door open for a student who is holding lots of books.

    6. Each time you get a new item of clothing, give away something old.

    7. Send flowers to a friend who is always there for you.

    8. Say “please” and “thank you”—and really mean it.

    9. Don’t interrupt when someone is explaining herself.

    10. Offer to baby-sit for your parents so they can have a date night, and don’t ask for anything in return.

    11. Put your shopping cart back in its place.

    12. Write to a teacher who changed your life.

    13. Forgive someone who hurt you and is sorry–and never bring it up again.

    14. Listen with all of your senses.

    15. Simply say “I’m sorry” when you’re wrong.

    16. Throw away your trash—and someone else’s—after lunch if they’ve left it behind on the table.

    17. Volunteer to take care of a friend’s dog or cat while he or she is away.

    18. Help a friend pack for a move.

    19. Ask someone, “How are you really doing?”—and then really listen to her response.

    20. Offer change when the person in front of you at the vending machine or lunch line comes up short.

    21. Share an uplifting Christian song with your friends on Facebook.

“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:3-43

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” John 3:16

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16

    1. For my bf…. because he has been having a bad home life… but we live far apart…. I opened up a virtual class room from Adobe… and I had his favorite song playing… had all of his favorite art works…. and I had a banner with one of his favorite bible verses! BUt then… he didn’t come so I went to his virtual class room *we call it a vp room* and he had the same for me because he knew things were hard with my life as well. It was so funny! And we had the same song art and verse! It was truly a God send.

      • as far as I have been told, it basically means to not go out and be like the Pharisees of Jesus’s time and make an announcement that you just picked up a wrapper for someone (it may seem a little extreme, but they did the equivalent of that back then all the time)

        • Yeah, Jesus is trying to stress that when you give, never give to be seen by others as a good person, but rather give completely for the other person’s sake.

    2. I know how important Number 12 is (writing a letter to a teacher). Last May, we had a teacher pass away one Monday morning unexpectedly. His wife (now my English teacher) found him at home. The entire school came to a stand still. We had no idea what to do. His funeral was held in the gym so we could all go pay our last respects, and his brother or brother-in-law (I can’t remember exactly) said when they were cleaning out the house, he found an enormous box of letters from students who appreciated all that he did. We all still miss Mr. Blair so much, and he was a wonderful man who had an impact on everyone he taught.

    3. Thank you, Nicole! These are amazing ideas! There are always opportunities to help others! God has blessed me with a servant’s heart, and I love to serve people whenever I can! When Haiti had the earthquake, I served there with some friends from my school. It was amazing! I thought I had lost a lot after experiencing a house fire, but seeing Haiti opened my eyes! I am so blessed to be alive and so grateful for everything God has given me and my family!

    4. there is this boy in the eighth grade named Brennan Zishka, he goes to the middle school. he’s recently been diagnosed with acute leukemia. I just sent him a message on FB and I just told him that I was a sophomore at Dupo and he was in me and my familys thoughts and prayers. he’s still in the hospital for chemotherapy, so he hasn’t gotten it yet, but I hope that he does. i’ve sent a lot of my friends a message asking them go do the same, just imagine what he feels like when he’s got tons of messages from anyone just saying that they hope he gets better.

    5. i really like these ideas. at my school, the principle made a thing called “middle school mula” (i know, kinda corny) that teachers can give students who do good things at school and arent like “Oh, look at me! im cleaning up the bathroom!” the mula is worth a dollar at concession stands at school games and at snack cart which is in a way like a vending machine, but its actuall people (i go to a private school so we dont get cool vending machines and cafeterias).. i got some for sweeping my history room when there was dirt everywhere and from stacking the chairs in science. there is a teacher who really inspired me and helped me, so i want to write her a note but i dont know how i should do it without being super corny and warm and fuzzy.

    6. I love this list! I would change 15. to “I’m sorry. Will you please forgive me.” I love when people say this. It makes the apology much more serious. (:
I love this website. It is so refreshing and i praise the LORD for a website to go to when I need encouragement. God Bless. <3

    7. Today, well yesterday since it’s past midnight here, I wanted to get something out of a vending machine at the bowling alley while my dad and I were bowling and we were a dollar short so this random woman who has never even met me before just came up to me and gave me the money so I could get it! I hugged her and said “Arigato Gozaimasu” which is Japanese (My favorite language, trust me, I’m a Japan freak) for thankyou very much. (:

    8. I also remember another time when one of my friends was getting something from the vending machine, but it got stuck. So I gave them some money so they could try to get it out again and out popped TWO!! He gave me the other one as his way of saying thanks! Not only that, it was what I wanted to get as well! I believe that was God rewarding me for my act of kindness.

      • Shyness is a part of Satan’s evil work. It’s something that many people struggle with and it comes in many forms, from being afraid to introduce yourself to going out of your comfort zone and taking the initiative to be a leader. Pray about this, ask God to give you strength and courage. Remember, he can do anything, even help you with your shyness. Our strength comes from God, not from within ourselves.

      • Do them anyway. Trust me, I was super shy…but I pushed myself to join acting class, band at church, co-op classes, drama…and GOd has been so amazing to me! It’s so fun watching myself grow 🙂 He can do the same for you, so any good given opportunity, say YES! Because if you haVE good friends who hold you accountable, yourself and God who holds you accountable….you can do GREAT THINGS! Believe me 🙂 I’ll be praying that you can break out of that shell, Blacky99

    9. Write a letter to someone struggling: a girl in my school got pregnant and gave birth to a son a few months ago so i wrote her a card telling her she is loved and God will take care of everything, then i got my youth group to bring in baby items and i collected almost 3 big bags of things for her.

    10. #2 hits close to home.
a girl that went to my school committed suicide recently. i didn’t personally know her, but many of my friends did. She was being horribly bullied, and I wish that I had known. I wish I could have helped some way. RIP <3

    11. Read The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne. It’ll inspire you because he shows that he has truly sought to act like Jesus in the world we live in today. It’s awesome to do small things with great love around the home and workplace but Jesus left saying that we should do what he did and even more. Here’s my 22nd thing you can do–buy a beggar or homeless person a meal and hang out with them, pray with them, laugh with them. If you don’t live in a place where there are many homeless people, find a way to spend time at an old person’s home.

    12. I love this! I read this less than five minutes ago and I already did one of them. I feel so much better being kind to others 🙂
PS: If in case you are wondering which one I did it is #7
PPS: At the end of last school year, I had written a letter to all the teachers that had taught for my 8th grade year.

    13. I always say good morning or hi to my teachers! I love teachers, actually. Sometimes, it gets to the point that I’ve done it so many times they get tired of it… or when I come in and forget, they’re offended! 😀
