On New Years Day, Netflix will be releasing a new show called “Messiah,” that will follow the life of a single man, who may or may not be the second coming of Christ.
The much-anticipated show, produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, a Hollywood couple well-known for their Christian faith, will explore what it would be like if Jesus came back during this present day time period.
Downey described the film as “a provocative and suspenseful geopolitical thriller that follows a mysterious figure as he travels from the Middle East to the United States.”
“He could be one of three things… a terrorist pretending to be the Messiah in order to destabilize the United States, an insane person who ‘thinks’ he’s the Messiah, or perhaps he is actually Jesus,” she explained in an email.
The show will have viewers asking all kinds of questions, according to Downey.
“‘Messiah’ is a series that will have the audience asking big questions. What if someone showed up in 2018 amid strange occurrences and was thought to be the Messiah? What would society do? How would the media cover him? Would millions simply quit work? Could government’s collapse?”
