How Do I Share the Gospel or Evangelize Without Being Embarrassed?

Project Inspired started a group specifically for the Girl Talk questions, which typically come from the Girl Talk chat wall on Facebook. Click here to safely join our chat group.
This week, a PI Girl asked about how to share the good news of Jesus without being afraid to speak up. Telling people the Gospel of the cross, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is not always easy. We must use wisdom if we are sharing with strangers and try to build a relationship before banging them over the head with a Bible. Many times you will notice evangelical organizations and nonprofits will serve people with food or help by giving clothing, and then will bring Bibles.
The reason why we should build a bridge through love, and then share about Christ through a relationship, is that it can be more genuine and there’s more trust with the person. We must also realize that everyone has different backgrounds and upbringings. Now, the Gospel and the word of God speaks for itself; we do not need to be ashamed or embarrassed by the Holy Bible. We can share a couple of verses and plant seeds, too. Every scenario is different when evangelizing.
In the Bible, God tells us that some water, some plant, but God gives the increase. This means that a farmer may plant a seed and a gardener may water the soil, but God (the creator of all) gives the increase of the crop and harvest in the soil of someone’s heart and can increase their faith to save the soul. We are just the messengers. Some people reject God’s Word, while some people accept it joyfully and some people we work with over time.
So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. (1 Corinthians 3:7)
Do not be discouraged if you preach on the streets and do evangelism and get rejected. Just pray and keep up the faith! If you pray with someone or you just tell them about John 3:16, the cross, the resurrection or just share about the love of God, you are planting seeds! Your smile or hug can be a greater message of God to people, but again, use wisdom, and don’t minister to strangers unless you have a youth pastor or person with you (especially if you’re under age 18—go in groups).
Sometimes the Holy Spirit will prompt you to talk to someone who seems sad or needs a word of hope. We need to be obedient to the Holy Spirit. Always double check what we write here on Project Inspired with the word of God and make sure it is aligned with what Jesus (the Good Shepard) is showing you (John 10). Make sure what we write is also aligned with God’s Holy Word.
As I mentioned, evangelism is a case-by-case situation. Each and every person we speak with is at a different place in life with God, their knowledge of the cross, and their openness or skepticism. We must love and respect people, but let us really show God’s love like the parable of the lost sheep or coin. Let us not give up so easily on people. With friends of ours, let’s check in on them and see how they are. Make sure to ask people for prayer if they need encouragement or healing!
Have you ever witnessed to someone and have you led someone in the sinner’s prayer? Comment below, PI Girls! We hope you can spread the love of God the Father through the son Jesus Christ, the awaited messiah, with people around you through the power of the Holy Spirit that swells inside of you when you become a follower of Christ and allow God to be King and Lord of your life.
When you are born again and your whole life changes for the better, you want to tell everyone about it (John 3). Amen? I don’t know about you, but it’s kind of like when you fall in love with someone, you want to tell the world about it! We can’t keep God’s love to ourselves! We must share it with our loved ones, neighbors, friends and even communities! People are broken and need the love of Yeshua (Jesus the Christ). Let us be servants of God and messengers as co-heirs and obey the great commission (Matthew 28).
The Bible says clearly that if you are ashamed of Jesus, He will be ashamed of you. If you proclaim Him before men, He will proclaim you and receive you before His angels and His Father in heaven. Do you believe this, PI Girls? This is quite scary that if we shrink back in unbelief, God our Father isn’t pleased, so let us take this calling and mission seriously. I pray for more boldness and a stronger voice in the body of Christ to win souls! Amen?!
Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. (Luke 9:26)
