Pop singer Justin Bieber hails from a small town in Ontario, Canada, where he found fame online at the young age of 13. Now 26, Bieber has become a household name. But he’s also been through a lot in his career and personal life.
A recent article from Fox News shares how growing up in the music industry ultimately affected Bieber. He admits that he let the effect of fame cause his relationships and personal morals to suffer. Although Bieber got into music simply because he loved it, he acknowledges that his “values slowly started to change” during his time in the spotlight.
“I let ego and power take over and my relationships suffered because of it,” Bieber admitted recently on his Instagram account.

Earlier this year, he shared a candid interview with Beat 1’s Zane Lowe where he talked about the effects of his mistakes on his relationships. After breaking up with his former girlfriend Selena Gomez, Bieber harbored feelings of resentment and unforgiveness. Not dealing with these feelings caused him to be unfaithful early in his relationship with model Hailey Baldwin, 23. After reconnecting with God, Bieber was able to find forgiveness, move forward and turn over a new leaf.
He added: “Jesus wasn’t this religious elite guy…but he was in the dirt, and he found me in my dirt and pulled me out.”
A large part of this new leaf includes starting a life with his now-wife, Hailey. Justin and Hailey married in September 2018 and shared a large wedding ceremony with family and friends in September 2019.
Since committing to his relationship with Christ, Bieber has set out on a new path in his life and career. In a recent Instagram post, he shares, “I truly desire healthy relationships. I want to be motivated by truth and love. I want to be aware of my blind spots and learn from them!”
Bieber and Baldwin both credit their faith with helping them to find strength where they were lacking in their marriage. Of the future with his wife, Bieber says “I want to give up my selfish desires daily so I can be a good husband and future dad!”
The couple also shared how a better understanding of God’s grace has helped them to move forward through past hurts.
“Forgiveness is the biggest thing,” Baldwin echoed. “You take a person with all of their mistakes, all of their faults, all of their decisions.”
Justin and Hailey now strive to set a good example through their own faith and their marriage. They recently gave a sneak peek into their lives together on a 12-episode Facebook Watch series which launched this summer.
Of his newfound commitment to God, Bieber says, “I never want to be someone that’s trying to persuade anyone to believe in what I believe. I think God persuades people,” he concluded. “But I definitely want to tell my story so that if that resonates with anybody they can hopefully learn from it.”
