How to Calm Your Nerves During the Holidays and Finals Week!

Do you ever feel pressure around the holidays? Maybe you’re traveling to see your relatives–while it’s exciting, it can be tough to do while juggling school projects and final exams! With the year coming to an end, you might need a few ways to relax and escape the busyness of the season!

Fun, relaxing ideas:

1.) Take a hot bath.  Use your favorite scented bubble bath!

2.) Read a scripture. The Word ALWAYS lifts me up! It helps me remember God is in control!

3.) Bake cookies! Make sure you have your parents’ permission first! Pumpkin, cinnamon sugar or gingerbread are great holiday flavors to try.

4.) Drink green/herbal tea. Green tea not only is soothing and relaxing, but also is PACKED with healthy antioxidants.

5.) Say a prayer. Reaching out to God if you feel overwhelmed is always the way to go. It even says in the Bible, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)

6.) Exercise or stretch. This relaxes your muscles and is great for your body!

7.) Listen to a peaceful song. Worship music is great, as is instrumental.

8.) Journal. I love writing and find it therapeutic. It helps to get things off your mind.

9.) Do something creative! Scrapbooking is my favorite! Or you can make a photo collage with your favorite pictures and stickers.

10.) Call a friend. Friends always help when you feel overloaded and they probably can relate to your stress!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).

    Thank so much for the tips. I am really stressed right now because I have exams coming up in a few weeks. I’m just mostly afraid about failing them because I’ve missed so many days of school this year. And I don’t understand a lot of stuff that we’re talking about in class because I wasn’t there to learn it. I’ve been praying and stuff but nothing seems to be happening. It’s still the same. I don’t know what to do.

    Last night I was feeling stressed with everything going on in my life, so I read my bible for a little while, and then said a long prayer. It felt uplifting to talk to God and know that He was listening to everything I said. I know things are better know and I could tell that Jesus was listening and healing. Thanks for this article, I can definitely relate! 🙂
