How to Change Your Situation With Gratitude and Worship

Project Inspired started a group specifically for the Girl Talk questions, which typically come from the Girl Talk chat wall on Facebook. Click here to safely join our chat group.
This week, a PI Girl commented on our forum and said that the enemy hates it when we worship. The Bible says that we must enter God’s courts in the heavens with thanksgiving and praise (Psalm 100). God is worthy of all worship, glory and honor regardless of our present situations. When the enemy attacks or when you are in the storm, praise Jesus regardless.
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. (Acts 16:25-26)
Remember that Paul and Silas decided to praise God in the prison cells and the gates of iron burst open. Miracles can happen when we worship and honor God, even when it hurts. I love the line in Hillsong United’s song “Even When It Hurts,” when Taya Smith, the lead singer, says, “even when it hurts like hell, I’ll praise you…even when it’s hard to find the words, louder than I’ll sing your praise.”
PI Girls, can you still bless the name of the Lord when things aren’t going your way? Job in the Bible lost his family, health and land, and still praised God. He said, “the Lord gives and takes away, but blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21)
Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised. (Job 1:21)
Since it is Thanksgiving, I thought it would be appropriate to address this topic of worship, thanksgiving, gratitude and resistance of the enemy. We must have a revelation that worship is our weapon, and that God is Holy and mighty, to be praised always. Ask God to give you a heart of faith and thankfulness in this season. Ask God for forgiveness if you have doubted His goodness. I challenge you PI Girls to look at what God IS doing, and write down 10 things you are thankful for, and also ask God to help you to worship even when there are trials and tribulations.
The book of James in the Bible teaches us to rejoice in trials because it produces character. If you are in the fire, know you are not alone and that God loves you so much. Jesus knows your pain; He suffered. This season will pass. I encourage you to not give away your joy, your peace, your worship. We must stay in the spirit even when people hurt us, or even when we are waiting and have no answers (Galatians 6).
Remember, God is always on time and He sent His son Jesus to die for you, which is worthy of all praise and adoration. We can always thank God for salvation and the gift of the Holy Spirit. When you are tempted to be mad at God or you don’t feel like worshipping, remember an attitude of gratitude will move mountains! Believe and you will receive what it is you ask for in prayer, as long as it is in God’s will and you do not doubt. Amen!
