Every week, I choose a different topic from the Facebook chat wall on the private group. You can join Project Inspired Ladies Only forum, to read, comment and or ask questions or prayer requests.
This week, on the Ladies Only platform, a PI girl asked how to get closer to God. One way is through prayer, which is communicating with God. Prayer is not just talking to God and giving him a list of what we want. Prayer is asking God for His guidance, waiting and listening to what He says. Not only do we give thanks and praise but we can glean from the wisdom of God through His Holy Spirit.
The next way to go deeper with God, is to read His Holy Word. We can read God’s truth to renew our minds (Romans 12:2) and to hear what He has to say. God’s Word declares itself to be God breathed. When we’re willing to dig deep for these treasures, we can have a deeper revelation of who God is.
“Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” (Psalm 42:7)
We can also reflect on our weekly sermons in church from our pastoral Shepard’s and their insight. We can go deeper in community, in an in depth Bible Study and through accountability. If we try and navigate the christian faith walk alone, then we may struggle to figure things out on our own. We must know that “… iron sharpens iron.” (Proverbs 27:17)
Likewise, it would be wise to surround ourselves with people who are more spiritually mature than us, so that we can grow in the faith. We can lean on our mentors and those who shepherd us for advice and for guidance. If want to grow, we must cultivate relationships in the living water, which is the truth and the word of God.
Another recommendation is to fast something before God or give up something sacrificially that will be honoring to God. Some people fast from food but you have to use wisdom in what you fast. You can research the Daniel Fast and check out this article on the purpose of fasting. People can fast or abstain from caffeine, sugar, television, social media, and or just something that’s hard for you to give up such as soda, for example. You can ask God what he personally wants you to give up for him so that you can say no to the flesh and press in the spirit. God will honor your fasting and usually what happens is His voice is clearer and more recognizable.
I challenge you Project Inspired readers to go deeper and to seek God first in all that you do. I pray that God will guide you and give you the wisdom and blessings that you need. May you grow richly in the knowledge and faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.
PI ladies, comment below if you have any prayer requests or comments concerning this topic! We would love to hear from you! God bless you!
